592 Remington 5mm Mag Rimfire

It's kinda weird because I'd only breifly heard of the 5mm round/guns.

This week I was at Gander Mountain in Rockford, IL snooping through the used stuff. There, in the rack, was a slightly bubba'd 592 for the price of $85..
Someone had (nicely) modified the stock to put your hand closer to the rifle's center, making the stock thinner in the grip area.
It was well done, anyway.. It also had a wideview 3x9 scope on it, too. The guy behind the counter said that it's a great rifle, but the ammo, if you can find it, runs $75 a box..

I thought it was a neat, oddball gun, but I couldn't stomach the fact that a box of ammo was going to cost the same as the gun..

Last night I was wandering around Aim Suplus's website and they have Centruion ammo for this gun!! $16 a box if you buy 10 boxes... Hmmmmm

So, tonight I burnt a $25 gift card and bought me a new gun for $56 after tax.. I got home and order 10 boxes of ammo (and a tin of 7.62x54R to shoot in my Mosins) and am now waiting to pick up my rifle tomorrow (IL's 24 hour waiting period) and for my ammo to arrive from Aim..

I had the 5mm in a Contender 10 inch barrel and I really loved it until the ammo got expensive...It is just like the .17 Hmr so you will really love it !

Old western scrounger has new manufactured ammo for the 5mm rem. for about 20.00 a box
