| 500 J.I.C. Mossberg Shotgun
So I recently saw an Ad for this thing and wanted to know some opinions and thoughts about it. Thanks in advance for the input. O.F. Mossberg & Sons, Inc. - Firearms, Shotguns, Rifles, Accessories, and Precision Machining -Skat |

For those looking for a home protection shotgun, those are what I've suggested to them just about every time....Not priced that bad either.

I have yet to talk to a single shotgunning person who endorses pistol grip shotguns. They all to the last man say they are too hard to control and strongly advise against getting them.

RJ I couldn't agree more. I got myself one of those pistol grip cruisers, and immediately put a stock on it. I couldn't hit a thing with it and its a killer on your shooting wrist. Now I'm trying to sell it to finance an AR.

I'd love to have an AR, an AK or even an SKS, but there's nowhere close for me to ever shoot them, and I'm in an apartment. Home defense with an AR is pretty much out.

I have a pistol grip for the moss 500 but it is in the bottom of my "gun parts" box. used it a few times to carry it in my backpack when hiking. it totally hid the shotgun and you could just reach back and pull it out with on hand but yeah you cant aim it for nothing. my moss now has a knoxx comp stock on it much better makes shooting 3inch slugs fell like 2 3/4 bird shot.

you could change the pistol grip to a folding stock and have the best of both worlds.

Skat though the list price is high, you can prolly buy it a lot cheaper. I bought my son this one for $ 360.00 out the door, so even if you bought the shotgun at the link you posted, that dang tube must have a heck of a Mark up ! And the shotgun is a standard 500 model with a hand grip and 18" barrel. For the money you can do better, if you want to...A.H |

I got the Persuader configuration with an 8-shot mag and 20" barrel for $250.00 at a Big 5 Sporting Goods. I got the display model, so they knocked 10% off. It has a synthetic stock, but I want to get a topfold (among other things) for it. A pistol grip, at best, is for messing around and maybe practicing shooting from the hip. Which is harder than some people think it is. I wonder...how is the 590 a 9 shot? If the barrel is 20", the mag can't be any longer than the one on the 8 shot, can it? Also, since I've been using it, I'm noticing fine scratches along the bottom of the mag, where the slide works. I lubricate it, but is this unavoidable? - Coeloptera |

Ive got the 590 Mariner it came with regular stock and pistol grip. Pistol grip is good for compact but not really practical unless at point blank range plus i shoot 3'' mag 00 buck and recoil well its pretty bad with pistol grip... jus my $0.02
