Am I the only one

I have a PT 940. Purchased it last October. At first i was ready to send it to the gun shredder due to magazine problems. After 4 or 5 magazine replacements the gun works fine. In fact it has been given a reprieve from the shreader. I actually now like to shoot it. Yesterday I pumped 50 rounds through it, rapid fire, one magazine at a time with various mfg, ie, WWB target, Blazer Brass target and WWB personal protection hollow point. It shot like a dream, not one malfunction, except of course my aim.
Am I the only one with a pt 940? I never see any posts here on it.

Hello Gordo1....my husband bought a PT940 last week! He shot it off a few times before he purchased it and so far he likes it. We will be going out tomorrow to shoot off our guns, so this will be when he will actually shoot off rounds....what kind of problems were you having with the magazine? From your experience with this gun, what should my husband watch for (if it needs any watching)? This is the gun he will carry on his person once we obtain our permits. (and yes, this is his first handgun).

The problem was with one of thew magazines. It would just eject for no reaon and sometimes cause a jam. After 2 replacement magazines from Taurus I finally got a pair that works fine. I have pumped several of varios brand of shells of through the PT940 with no issues. By the way, Taurus customer service can sometimes take forever.
I found the PT 940 a little bulky for a carry weapon. It is a medium frame. I have since purchased a Stringfield XC9SC. The 9mm is much mor economical for range shooting and is much mor compact.

My experience,Taurus service virtually always is slow,but I have no other complaints so far.A couple times I had forgotten I had sent them a gun. sam.

Husband did some more shooting today and for the first time since he purchased his pt940 he had a minor problem; he shot off about fifty rounds and out of those rounds, his gun failed to eject its empty shell, thus jamming the gun, on three instances. He understands that this can happen on a semi-automatic. The only thing he has done differently is to use different ammo. Overall, he is still pleased with his firearm & hopes this won't be an ongoing problem. Anyone out there experience this with the Taurus?

With Taurus it seems to be either love or hate. I hated mine at first due to magazine issues. Now i do not actually love it but I rather like it. It is now rather dependable and fairly accurate. I have pute many rounds through it from various manufactureres being HP or FMJ. they all work great. Actually, I think I just went through the breaking in stage. I will keep it now, unless someone comes along with a nice 357mg or 44 revolver that wants to trade.

How does a magazine "eject for no reason"?? What does that mean?

I would be shooting and all of a sudden the magazine would just eject and fall out. Sometimes it would be after the second or third shot and other times it might be after shot number five, six or seven. It would just fall out or eject itself.

Are you absolutely sure that your grip didn't hit the magazine release button ? I don't mean to insult you, but this is exactly what happened on my PT-145. Love the grips, but I found that sometimes my grip could actuate the mag release if I wasn't mighty careful. Partially doing this could maybe also have caused one of my FTF.

Gordo..since I last reported here, my husband has been having problems with his PT940..he posted in the general handgun forum under "casing not ejecting"; he is not quite sure if he is limpwristing or if its his ammo...it functioned the worst at his carry class when it jammed every third ammo or so; I have shot it off a couple of times without any problems...he is going to change his ammo one more time and have me & him both shoot it off before he begins to worry about his gun.

If it's malfunctioning like that, don't blame it on limpwristing, ammo, or anything else. Time to start worrying about the gun. My Taurus's gobble up any handload or factory ammo you can name with no problem. It's distressing to hear about a problem with a new Taurus, but I suppose it can happen.

If someone else can use the gun with no problems it is time to check your own hold out.If there were a malfunction in the gun,it would do it with anyone.One way to check is how accurate you are compared with someone else fireing the same gun and ammo.You cant weak wrist and be accurate at the same time.The common cause for weak wristing for someone that normally doesnt do it is the grips dont fit your hand.They can be too big,too slender,or too short.I never heard of too long being a problem. sam.

Well, if it works OK for you, but mysteriously jams every 3rd round for your husband, it's time to get him a revolver.

No, I did not hit the eject button by mistake. Hell, give me credit, I have been shooting for several years.
I had two magazines, one was fine with no problem.
Taurus finally provided me with a new magazine that works great.
I suspect they had a series of mags that were defective. Of course they would never admit this.
So now the PT940 works great.
