| If you remove the plug it will hold 5 + 1 totaling 6, instead of 3 + 1 totaling 4. Removing the plug will gain you 2 more 3" shells. Not sure on the 2 3/4" shells. If you take it out, don't loose it. If you ever hunt with it, it has to have the plug in it in some states as some only allow 3 max in the gun. So better safe then sorry.
