Where are the ports on your brothers G17? And how many? I'm looking at the 4 port version, just fits into the slide cut out. They have the 6 port, the 4 in the slide cut out and the barrel is slightly longer then stock and the other 2 ports are outside, forward of the slide/end of the muzzle.

There is another barrel brand, the EFK Fire Dragon. Those are or have to definately be fitted in by a gunsmith. Maybe I'll look into Glocks factory ported to see if available, and if so, how much? Otherwise, it looks as if I'll be holding off on this idea as well as the scope idea for the Winchester. That's alright though, I have a very long wish list. More looking at getting accessories this time around. With the rebate we're suppose to get in May or June, I'll get the Ruger New Model Blackhawk BN-455L and some ammo for same.
