antique revolver identification ?

Grandpaws old revolver. nickle plated, five shot revolver,top brake.This gun has a grip safety and automatic ejecter. On the barrel, cylinder,and frame there are what appears to be "U" direction horse shoe under two what looks to be two crowns,royalty type.the crowns resemble russian csar type. I would like any information, age model etc.The latest patent date listed on ttop rib is Aug. 4th 1885.

It sounds like you have a .38 Safety Model, or New Departure as they are also called. It was called that due to the new designed Grip Safety. D.B. Wesson felt only an adult would have the Power in their hand to fire this gun with that style safety as he Feared children getting into a firearm and a bad outcome, so that is why he made it that way. A picture would help.I find safety hammerless in .32 and .38 cal.They have colectors value.They run $500.at 100% down to $110. at 10%. sam.

I meant to call it a Safety Hanmmerless, but forgot to. They also offered this style of grip safety in an exposed hammer gun as well. Regards, Hammerdown
