| They say subsonic .22 is supposed to be the most accurate, and it doesn't hurt my ears as much when I take my shot! Whatever subsonic hollow point I happen to have on hand has worked just fine in the past for me. .22 Subsonic Ammunition

| old habit. I read somewhere that HP .22's grab a ball of air on their nose and are more accurate. As such I tend to have a lot of them lying around waiting to be shot. .22's are so inherently accurate anyway it is probably not noticeable at the ranges I take small game. I am also not sure they ever open to tell you the truth, recovering a .22 when looking for a rabbit is hard to do. But point noted, I will invest in a box of ball/roundnose next time I go looking for a rabbit.

| Thanks for the replies! I thought it might be fun to see how many different kinds people use. I do believe subsonic is best, but I don't always use it. Keep posting! I like mini-mags best.

| My favorite .22 LR round are the CCI Stingers, they move 32 grains at 1640 f.p.s very fast. They tear small game up!

| I too am a big fan of the stingers mainly due to some really bad luck dropping big jackrabbits out in the desert! HV .22 HP's weren't getting the job done and back then Stingers were brand new on the market so I tried em out and was immediately impressed! Can't go wrong with em, but I wonder why anyone thinks the tiny pop of any .22 from a rifle is loud??? Of course then again I didn't find the report of a 5"/38 Naval cannon to be to uncomfortable either... LOL

| After thousands of rounds out of my Ruger 1022, I have elected to use sub-sonics. I always shoot for the head and these shoot more consistantly. But I guess it's what ever round your rifle likes. Dandy Dan |

| Winchester Power Points. They shoot the most accurately out of my CZ 452. I only take head shots though. Mostly because I prefer the challenge, but also because the Power Points are very destructive on body shots. |

| be carfull with the cci stingers. I only shoot them out of bolt action rifles. I used to love them but first they cracked the breech on my 10/22 (the 3/8" piece that the bolt rides on top of.) Ithought it was a fluke but then i was shooting my pump rossi and the big firing pin broke and flew back in my face!! no more stingers!!!! |
