xd verse glock please help a newbie

Hi I am new to this forum, I have a question about semi pistols? I have never owned a pistol I have owned lots of revolvers though, my question is this I was considering a 40s&w or 9mm for ccw and I was looking at getting a glock 26,27 or springfield xd 9 mm or 40. I was in the glock forum and I read where two of the guys had there glock 40 s&w go K-boom in there hands and then I read reviews in different places about the same thing happening with other glocks. I have to tell you this concerns me, can anyone tell me if springfield is having this problem or is it just because glock has so many guns out there that you just hear about them more? I read something about the xd being fully supported with the ammo dont quite know what that means and that you can use lead in xd where you cant with glock, can anyone help me I know this is springfield forum but what do you guys think which cal and which gun? thanks.
