I see these most often on ebay. Just go there and do a search for "Mosin". There should be a couple of pages to scroll through. Then after that, down at the bottom is ebay express, where you can "buy it now". Also look on Gunbroker.com, and Auction Arms. Make sure you ask plenty of questions before you bid/buy! Any questions? Just give me a yell.

yea thanks r5c as well,

Alright fellas, the training has begun!!!

today was an learning experiance by itself for me. me and my buddy went up to the forest to finally try some longer shots with my mosin. i brought about 100 rounds of brown bear 185 gr. !!!that stuff rocks by the way!!. we took a hike to a valley ive always wanted to plink on that ive never had a chance too. so we set up on one side of the valley to shoot all the way across. the rangefinder said 470 yards to the rockface we were going to plink to. now the funny thing is ive only tried this kind of distance with a scoped 308 nato before. this is where the apreciation for my mosin struck me like lightning! so i slid the leaf to the aproximant position between the 4 and 5 on the leaf. i chose my target. which was a stump i would estimate thats ruffly about a 1x3 foot stump sticking out of the rockface on the other side of the valley.i took a deep breath , i aimed, shot, Nailed it!! first try! we sat there and passed the the mosin back and fourth til we went thru about 40 rounds. more importantly i made a believer out of my friend!!!

to conclude on the day i still think i might buy the pe mount , but after today i felt pretty confident with the ironsights. i didnt nail the stump everytime, but i would say around 75 percent of the time i did. not bad for a shotgun junkie! i plan on going up tommorow, im gonna look for a spot where i can set up some long range target 400+ that i dont need to rock climb to set up. living in the rockies is Awesome, but finding a safe clearing to shoot at always isnt quite that easy.

My friend, that is some great shooting!!! Wish my eyes would let me see targets that far! If I ever need a long shot with irons sights taken I sure will be calling you!

^--Proof again that Mosins are more than capable of making 400+ (even 600) yard shots if the shooter does their part..

...oh, did I mention they go for $50-150, normally and the ammo is dirt cheap?

Cool

JAC, Thou preacheth to the choir.

Looks like this will be a cleaning weekend. The trip to J&G will have to wait.

FMJ, Next time out I will wait for the 200 yard and 300 yard targets to open up at the range (there are only 5 stalls for these distances).

I bet you be stoked.

Great shooting, great story! Remember though, you're gonna have to get where you can hit a pie plate every time.

As soon as the doc says "time to grab the Mosin and go shootin' son" I am there. Typically, 10-12 weeks to let the breastbone completely heal. Plus things is still a little tender.

So, if John Wayne can do it with a BAR and Rambo can do it with a .50 BMG... why not?

You have convinced me. I will have to replace that hip sooner or later anyway...

I have a vast fondness for the 91/30s as well. They just balance well and shoot well. I have three of them and keep looking for another.

At first I thought I would like the carbines more but those long guns just plain shoot!

I've been hunting deer and hogs with my M-44 for several years now. I regularly drop deer @ 200 yds+ using a 2x20 scout scope. The only commercial ammo that I've used while hunting is Barnaul 204gr. S.P. and S&B 180 gr. S.P.-both worked fine. I normally shoot handloads tho. My favorite load is a 150 gr. .312 Hornady S.P. over 53 gr. of H4895. I use Graf's cases and Win. primers.
