I agree 100%. Most of the enjoyment is in the doing! I spent $1400 buildng an awesome AK. Now I want to sell it and start all over. The PROCESS sometimes outweighs the end result! Will I see my $1400 back? NO! Will I do it again? Most assuredley YES...

What's the eye relief on that scope? So far so good. Just be careful with that Dremel if that's the route you end up having to take; then again, I've never seen a sawed off Mosin. lol

A mosin pistol? Hmmmm, that would make the liberals faint! Cut the barrel down. Cut the stock off at the pistol grip....

Yepper am having fun with this little refinshing job myself nothing as elaborate as your doing tho ..
just gonna make a nice looking 91x30 from a old stock .. got the SKS out and stripping it now .. waiting on the guy in texas to decide if he is gonna take the stock I ordered back of pay the difference for the for arm stock being broke .. BTW do you know how to remove the gas tube from this yugo? I cant see a pin in the rear section just a dimple on each side???

Marion- Hope this helps. I do not know much about the Yugo's!
Both ends are flattened after install. They are ground flush with the U shaped part. The problem with that is it makes both sides the rivet head. The way I have done it is to drill the darned pin out on a drill press, then use a roll pin to replace it. after the roll pin is installed, dremel off the excess and you are done.

If you do not want to go that route, I do suggest using a dremel wit a cutoff wheel to remove the excess head on one side of the pin, then proceed to push it out from that side. That way you are sure you are not trying to fight the rivet style head. It will not at all damage the unit doing it this way..

Is it bad that I still want to take a POS Mosin that is nearly ready for the scrap heap and make an Obrez out of it?

gotta be better than a sawed 12 guage with a pistol grip. then again i haven't shot one but some people are man enough.

I cheated swede I masked it off and stripped it LOL now am putting the tru oil on it

Thank swede I am kinda slow but I see now that what you say is true and am glad I didnt go to that extreme

Thats what I usually do! Lots and lots of blue tape. A pain, but better than risking damaging something!
