Shot the SKS today

Well i was at my buddies and we started out shooting my H&R Pardner single shot 12 guage. Decided to also try out my SKS with the TAPCO stock on it. Idk if its because i was shooting 12 guage shells before or if its just how the stock is designed, but the felt recoil seemed a lot less than when it had on its original wooden stock. Needless to say i love how it looks and the pistol grip and the 20 round mags. Haha awesome. On a side note i finished out the day with a 3" magnum slug through the Pardner. My shoulder is going to be sore tomorrow at work..........

lol sweet. what type of sks did you put in the tapco stock? Ive been thinking about doing this for a while. Is it just the recoil difference that you notice or is the over all feeling and comfort shooting better? oh and its always fun when you finish up shooting with some slugs, except when you forget that the last one you put in your ammo belt is a slug, thats a fun surprise.

The tapco is designed very well. The seemingly less recoil may have something to do with the pistol grip. With a regular stock, the entire force of the recoil goes into your shoulder. With the pistol grip, your hand takes a little as well and to me that seems like it would slightly lessen recoil against the shoulder.

You got that right Steve! All my life I thought the SKS was a piece of junk until I bought one and shot it. I can't believe I was so closed minded!! I guess it too owning a Mini 14 to change my mind. My Yugo or Russian SKS can out shoot that Mini 14 all day long!!!

I took me years to convince my younger brother to buy one. What finally got him was I brought one with me one time ad let him shoot it! He's had one ever since.
