Our New Members

I'm amazed at what I've found on the members list! Folks with 0-12 posts, and then they're gone for whatever reason. Are we doing all we can do to welcome our new members and have them feel included on the forums and sub-forums? Are we living up to our billing as being the Friendliest Gun Forum On The Internet? Bear in mind that we all started off with "one" post on this forum. The "Powers That Be" at G&G have made sure that we have enough forums and sub-forums to peak everyones interest that joins or visits. They've done their part to make this site exciting and entertaining. The Moderators are a good group of level headed and fair folks and I don't see that as an issue, either. Let's make sure we're all doing our part by making our new members feel welcome here. This is Brother Bob and I approve this message. LOL!

I'm new here and feel quite welcome.

I'd not worry about people being transient too much. Given the typical internet brief attention span of youth, a discussion board my appeal more to older users in the long run. The young'uns tend more toward instant message, chat rooms, and texting. Asking and actually waiting for answers to posts may be beyond many.

We try to make our new members feel as welcome as possible, and encourage their participation on the forums. It's like anything else, some stick around, and some blow out with the breeze.

I welcome our members in the introduction forum every time I see a new one pop up. I know I felt very welcomed when I first started,so I don't know why a few of them flew the coop. But I know we have a few young ones on here with us and I think that's nice....!

Well, I was just thinking out loud on this thread. Probably should have never posted it, but thanks for the input anyway.

Every time I see a newbie, I make it a point to pop in and leave a welcome. I may have missed a few, but I do try.

I've only been here a few months but I feel more at home here than in real-world clubs where I've been a member for many years. There is absolutely no snobbery among the regulars, not even to the new members and the newbie shooters just starting out. Everyone shares their knowledge and feels free to offer their opinions. If you have a problem, people will try to help, even if it is only a kind word when you may need one badly.

I wouldn't know anyone here if I bumped into you on the street (not that that is very likely, most everyone here's too smart to be caught in the Peoples Democratic Republic of New York), but when I get on, I have the feeling I'm walking into an old-time general store, with comfy chairs by the potbellied stove and people just settin' and swappin' stories. It's a warm place to be.

Yer turn to stoke the stove with a new log Cyrano...LOL, and I feel the same as you about this forum.

We need more of this homegrown hospitality in the crazy world of today.

I try to welcome new members and here recently LOL I've wonderd if I've over WELCOMED them to GUN and GAME !!!
And ran them off !!!
And too I've noticed some get there information and never return or they "don't" get it and never return.
Thats probably going to be the norm.

Many new members join to be able to ask a particular gun question that they may have. The question is answered, and then the poster moves on. They don't always necessarily want to be a part of the community as much as benefit from it.

Well, I don't know if anyone else here who works in a gun shop does this or not, but I know I write the URL for this forum at least five times a day for new shooters looking to purchase guns. I know if any of those people at all joined on my suggestion, they may have just hung around long enough to learn what they wanted to know, whether they asked questions or not.

I have felt very welcome here since day one. This is a great place with great people. Some people just might pop on in search of an answer to a question, and once they get that answer, they move on..

Look at all the people y'all are helpin!!! :-)
