Survival weapon

Well after reading all this I have decided to get a survival pack together but what I am missing is a firearm. I was leaning towards the Henry survivalist .22LR. But I thought I shoud ask your opinion since you fellas seem pretty prepared.

And this firearm would be used for hunting small game primarly (sp?). For the larger stuff I would used my bow. I would also have a air gun (bb gun) for small game aswell. So if what are your opinions, suggestions, whatever

Thanks guys

I have the Henry Survival. Pretty nice little rifle. Reasonably accurate. Carbon fiber barrel with steel sleeve. At 2.5 pounds, weighs less than alot of sidearms. Shoots Stingers well.

I had one about 15 years ago, made by Charter, I think, that was a p.o.s. Henry has come a long way.

I think you've made an excellent choice. Light, compact and you can carry a lot of ammo.

One other question, do you need a permit to purchase a .22?

'Permits' depend on your local/state laws. Here in Florida, NO.
We just fill out the Form 4473 and the dealer does the call-in check to placate the Brady Bunch.

Henry has much improved the original AR-7 design. A buddy has just gotten one, and really likes it. They make a far better magazine too - the heart of any semi-auto firearm. That was the real weak point of the earlier versions.

I like the idea of an M-4 or maybe a Kel-Tec PLR-16 in a SHTF survival situation, but in a wilderness survival, I might be argued into using a .22lr.

If your state has concealed carry enacted, then a search of the Yellow Pages might bring up the name of an instructor that teaches the often required class prior to issuance of a ccw permit. He should be able to get you details.

Well what I meant is that I don't need a permit for anything (to buy/carry) unless its a conceled pistol.

I don't mind giving links to info but I hesitate to interpret legal crap for others.
