Angry I am ticked

Ok I bought a feg P9R, after reading numerous posts, I bought hogue hi power grips, and high power grip screws, and 3 kdr high power 17 rd mags. NONE of it works on my pistol. The grip panels are wrong, the screws wont go in all the way and none of the mags will feed a single round into my pistol. So I am ticked. Moral to the story the P9R is NOT interchangeable with high power modeled firearms.

FEG P9R

Ok I finally get to report on how it shoots. My son and I took mine and my wifes pa-63 out to shoot.
Once I got used to the feel of the trigger I was hitting the pop cans consistantly. Distance was 15 yrds max. overall I was very pleased with gun. The pa-63 was a slightly different story, accuracy was ok but the trigger was totally crap and the recoil was very sharp.
My wife who has not shot it yet will not be pleased. My son only fired one mag I fired two and I couldn't do three. Thinking I may have to do some trading.

Replace the hammer spring and the recoil spring. I put a 15# recoil spring with a 11# hammer spring in my PA-63 and it is a new pistol. Very comfortable!! The total cost was less than $20.00.

strange my feg P9 interchanged near everything but then again I am a bit of a purist and didn't want to alter the lines of the pistol with overpriced grips etc etc. My functioned flawlessly never a stove pipe or a jam in several thousand rounds! Wish I had that lil sweethear6t back but she had to be sold to deal with other problems arond the hacienda

Sounds like something to try before doing any trading. Good suggestion Rollinco.
Where'd you come up with the idea to do that to yours?

I"m not familiar with Feg, but EZ, is there any difference in the Feg P9R he listed and the P9 you mentioned? Or is yours the P9R also and you just left off the R?

I own an FEG SMC-380. To look at it you would think it is the spitting image of a Walther PPK but the parts are not interchangable for that either.

Sorry about your mistake.

Mine was the Hi-Power clone, field stripped and went right back together like a high-power, even used a few high power mags, mine was the single action and from what I understand if correct was made on Browning tooling left over and sold under license to FEG

I got the suggestions for mine from the makarov.com forums and the 15# recoil spring and the 11# hammer spring hit the sweet spot for me.

FWIW, a 15# recoil spring will make it too difficult for many women to pull the slide back. But, I think that 15# is what it will take to make the recoil manageable. I tried a 13# and was still not happy.

Theres the issue. What you had was not a P9R.

The P9R looks like a Hi-power but it isn't one. It is double action, and few parts interchange.

My P9R has been a nice shooter, though I've shot it a lot less now that I found out that FEG is no longer producing these guns (as in, no spare parts either) and after I heard about someone elses barrel camblock breaking and not being able to find a replacement (I heard that the newer version uses a standard BHP barrel) since the older models wern't interchangeable.

As for the PA63 you will always have to do what the above poster said.

Replace those springs with the 13# -15# recoil minimum. This will take the sting out of the gun and make it more pleasurable to shoot.

The hammer spring should also be replaced if you want the trigger to be lighter. 11# is usually the best you can do. When I tried anything lighter I would get light primer strikes. This will also increase the guns accuracy because you will no longer gerk the trigger.

The PA63 is not really a girls gun at all. Out of the box in its original config it will sting your hand good. It was disigned as a police/military gun and given a stiff trigger to prevent accidental trigger pulls.

These springs can be replaced easily with a small flat head screw driver. In fact I changed my springs at the range trying different poundages until I found one that gave the best reliability.

Both springs can be had from Wolff www.gunsprings.com For under $20.
Resources\Ordering

Hope that helps.

Talking

I bought an FP9 recently, and have found that it is almost completely compatible with Browning parts. There seems to be a lot of confusion in the gun world on exactly WHICH FEG is the true Browning clone. I believe it to be the FP9, and not the P9R.

Here's a pic of my FP9...
