Basically it's a bolt that has a piece welded on the top of the handle and taking a 90 degree turn and extending past the left side of the rifle so it can be grabbed with the left hand like a right handed person would grab it. It could be cleaned up to look nice and the regular handle could be cut off and cleaned up to be nice and smooth, or be left where it is.
Hate to rain on your parade, but how are you going to cycle it since the bolt rotates counter-clockwise?

Pull to the left and down. Rotates the bolt counter clockwise and the piece going upwards from the original bolt allows enough clearance for the modded part to clear the left side of the rifle. It would look funky, but I believe it would work. May need to work on the general shape a little to allow the bolt to be turned easier. Also might be better to put a semicircular piece on the end rather than the nob because to rotate the bolt, it would require more of a pulling to the left as well as down.

I think you are on to something there JMP! But maybe instead of the bolt handle you could install a servo motor. That way when you want to work the bolt you press a button in the side of the stock or receiver and the servo rotates the bolt counterclockwise and back.

That started out as a tongue in cheek post designed to annoy you and as I wrote it I started thinking that would really be a cool thing! Kinda like an electric auto loader!

LOL ^ it's fine. It may or may not work the way I'm thinking about. I painted another pic from a different angle to give y'all a better idea of what I mean. Of course the shape could be changed to make it look better.

Im left handed too while i shoot left handed and i shoot a bolt action and my pump shotgun throws it down the so it doesnt wizz passed my eye. and a nother option for a rifle is a lever action.

Now your blood brothers, That is a good idea, extending the bolt handle. It should be legal, huh?

That's a neat idea jmp... I'm not a lefty, but I'd be willing to weld something like that together.

I'm not a welder either, but my dad taught me some basic stuff with brazing, soldering, and oxy-acetylene welding (of an exhaust system).

I agree with Marion. Take off the bayonet and shoot it like the Barry Pepper, the sniper in Saving Private Ryan.

i just don't see the problem being left handed and using the bolt with the right hand. now i really gotta get my lefty buddie out to the range to see what the problem is. seems to me it would be easier for a lefty not reaching over the top of the rifle to get to the bolt handle.

Kind of like standing on the other end of the gun.
Or is it the other SIDE of the gun?

Whew! For a minute there I was beginning to think this thread was getting way too serious.

I am pleasantly surprised at all the left handed shooters out there. At the range I see almost none! Makes this LHS feel much better!

I agree with you, but I'm still willing and interested in trying to work something out... even though I'm a righty and like my bolt the way it is...

...okay, I take it back, I want a swept bent bolt from Boltman, but who doesn't, right?
