| Grumpy Old Fart ![]() | You would do well to go back 90 days or so, and read all the posts. Thats what I did when I started out to buy an AK. I really learned a lot, and it helped me to make an informed purchase!

| Registered User | Right now, a Yugoslavian AK is a nice gun....that looks like a combat AK. But they are going fast and some standard AK parts don't interchange. If "the look" isn't so important, I would get a milled Norinco MAK-90 and install a new Advanced Technology stock. Very accurate. ![]() |

| Senior Member | ATI has excellent customer service. I want to preface this by saying that... I wasn't happy at all with their stock on my AK. It was very cheap feeling. The screw they sent me broke and I ended us messing up my tang a little. They swapped it out no questions asked, but right now it's sitting in my gun closet on a shelf... Just my opinion. Back on topic, I have a Romanian SAR-1. It's great. Decent accuracy, dead nuts reliability, and it looks great. |

| Registered User | The best bang for your buck would definitely be a Yugo M70 period! Fixed stock or underfolder, these things are built like a tank and dont feel like a light weight bb gun in your hands like some of the cheaper Romys. Or you could buy a Vector, which is a stand up company that gives a 5 year warranty. The Vectors have a really nice finish and function well, definitely a quality build. Heres a pic of my Yugo M70 under folder: ![]() |

| Member | I did have a vector arms underfolder pressed receiver. I really like the underfolders and I couldn't beat the quality for the 500.00 I paid for it. I think they may have gone up since then tho, but then everything seems to be going up. |

Where would someone such as myself be able to purchase one of these lovely yugo's ?

| Senior Member | I love yugo underfolder. They are very comfortable guns and the underfolder fits me perfectly. However they are heavy as hell. For a shtf I would go with my saiga. It is much lighter than the yugo, more solid and better built than my romanian, and the stock is better suited for 99% of the situations you would encounter in a shtf situation. Such as taking game and surviving. Face it in shtf I doubt most of us will be going all rambo and taking out massive squadrons of invading bad guys. We will most likely be trying to stay alive and put food on the table and the saiga is going to win at that. Oh and it is much cheaper 249.00 than any other ak on the market. and is built in the original Russian factory. Here's mine with a 30 rd mag, and scope rings just installed. waiting on scope. ![]() |

It's U.S made by surefire. I should still be alright shouldn't I???? I know the scope mount is Russian, but do accessories affect compliance???

| Registered User | Any AK with a dimple or milled out dimple is OK Any AK with a mag dimple, or milled out "dimple" is going to be OK. The WASR10 AKs are smooth on the receiver above the mag, and have little pieces of steel welded inside the mag well. These AKs are OK, if that's all you can get, but the dimpled ones are better, in my opinion. |
