UTG - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

UTG is owned by Leapers, which makes real firearm accessories. I bought a UTG scope from a real firearm FFL dealer who does not sell airsoft guns. So yes...and no...

These are mostly fun & gun type things, I wouldn't want them in actual combat, though my UTG red/green MILDOT rubber armor scope keeps it's "0" pretty good. I never dropped it...but, it isn't effected by recoil of my AR .223.

They make outstanding cases I bought on at a gun show for my Ar and its awesome, has hold does for the AR. Really nice large zippers, and another compartment for magazine ammo and Misc stuff.

I have a Leapers 4-16x scope, and there's really only two complaints I have. 1 - it's damn heavy for its size, and 2 -the turrets are mush feeling. Not very crisp clicks. The glass is reasonable for the price.

I think it's decent for the price you pay for it. It all depends on what your doing. If you don't plan on defending your life with this rifle, then it's a perfectly fine scope. It will handle the recoil, and seems to hold zero well. Like I said before, the glass is about the quality you would expect for the price, but if you can see your target clearly, that's all you can ask for.

I actually put the Leapers scope I mentioned on a match grade airgun I have and can easily shoot aspirin at 25 yds with it, so it's not bad, but not great.

Now if you said this was a SHTF or home defense rifle, I would say something different.

I have a buddy who bought one of their AR aluminum 2 piece 4 rail handguards, and it really is pretty nice. Works well, looks good and mounted easily. Like this only 2 piece and came with 12 bumpers for the areas of the rail you don't use.
AR-15 CAR Quad Rail Handguard New UTG

When I get my AR, I plan on getting it as it works as good as any of the high-end brand name ones does. It's reasonably priced and my buddy has had his on for over a year now and has had no problems.

As for the Leapers scopes, I bought one of the new 5th Generation True Strength series 4X32 scopes. Supposedly, and it states this on their website, they were tested on a .426 Rigby rifle in real world settings. I'm planning on trying it on my SKS. I have one of those receiver covers that has the scope mount integrated onto it and I've heard they can play hell with a scope. So rather then possible ruin a high-end scope, I'm going to use this. So if it don't hold up from the recoil, or the mount is quite hard on scopes, I"'m not out much. On a side note, I've also put a Buffer Tech recoil buffer in the SKS. So that will help with felt recoil.

When I finally get the chance to mount it and get to the range to shoot it, I"ll be honest and post the results. I've gotten some flack for choosing the Leapers, but all one has to do is understand my reason (not wanting to thrash a Leupold or Nikon-more expensive scope) until I find out just if this mount works or not. If not, I plan on just using the irons.

But the way I look at UTG/Leapers is about the same as Barska, BSA, Redfield, Simmons or Tasco products. Again, the scope I got is one from a new line/series of scopes, so we shall see. lol
