| Senior Member | SKS's I was on a gunsmithing site Forum & fella ask'd why the receiver cover retainer pin's he orderd "Numrich" were too short "wouldent fit across the action all the way, one of the reply's he received was "they" may be for a stamped receiver SKS, that perked my curiosity, I thought Ive seen most all type's of SKS's but never have I heard mention of a stamped SKS! I asked were thes were made and another fella mention'd very early one's were Mfg in China. |

| Super Moderator   | I have never seen a stamped SKS reciever...The main difference I AM aware of is whether or not the barrel is pinned or Screwed to the receiver... I am unaware of a pin length difference... Hmmm Rich

| Senior Member  | I know some SKSs have stamped minor parts like the trigger guard as opposed to stamped. But other than that, I don't think I've heard of anything else that's stamped. Nothing major like a receiver anyway.

| Senior Member  | Is there a difference in Norinco SKSs, Chinese SKSs and Yugo SKSs in that area? If so, isn't it possible he got the pin for one of those? Or maybe he got the pin to a different model? Say instead of a pin to a 59/66, he got the pin for an Yugo M-48? Just throwing things out there only because other then that, I haven't a clue. lol

| Senior Member | Doesn't the Yugo has a thicker receiver? Could be he tried to put a Chinese pin in a Yugo maybe.

| Senior Member  | I've heard of stamped sks's for years. I always thought it referred to the ones with stamped trigger guards. I think GlockMeister could be right. A few years back, I bought a spare firing pin for my Russian sks. The one I got was completely different, it wasn't spring loaded like the Russian.

| Senior Member | Stamped SKS Stamped SKS's do exist, seen a side by side comparison Pic today, they were produced in China for proving trials, but shelved, seems when they "Chinese" were clearing warehouse out & surplusing these were shipped to the USA with the standerd type 56's, a small number made it into collector hands, Seeing is believing . | Super Moderator | AFter researching it further, the Chinese did Experiment with partially stamped and fully stamped receivers for the type 56 SKS...right before ending production...Some made it into the U.S.shipments. I Personally still would prefer a fully milled receiver. Rich
