| One Buwwit Weft   | 12/42 Inland FedEx just left.. CMP sent me a Rack Grade Inland, and I haven't had a chance to tear it apart (gotta get back to work, for lunch  ) but anyway, the Serial Number is 163,xxx and the barrel is a 12/42 Inland..Is it just me, or does this sound like a lowish number Inland? I don't know squat about them, but I'm gonna learn, and I wanted to get a topic up for me to ask questions as I dig further into this rifle. I found no stamps on the stock, and it's got a big 19 paint penned just before the oiler slot.. Any info for the newbie will be greatly appreciated.  ************************************************** *********************** Ok, I tore it down and here's what I found... Again, Barrel is a 12/42 Inland Trigger group is Inland Operation Rod is SG Front sight says RP? Rear sight has a sheild with a H in it.. Mag Release says MWA?? Hammer either says HI, or JH?? Bolt is round (not with top flat) and there's a A.I and a big I (guessing Inland) Hand gaurd/Stock have no marks, nor does the buttplate Bayonette mount has a diamond with a D in it. I cleaned everything up with SUPER HOT water, and then blew everything dry while still hot. I then broke down the remaining cosmo with WD40, and then wiped all that off, and then lubed everything with Break Free CLP and lightly wiped everything off to a light coat of lube. Photos to follow.. As far as what I found in parts, seems like an odd mix, but from what I gather, it's expected. ************************************************** ************************ Pics, as promised.. Still in the box, and all metal parts loaded with cosmo.   I don't normally name rifles, but this one's being called Number 19  Somehow, the entire rifle exploded into parts..  Back together (and even did it correctly)   Couldn't help myself, so I went to the range tonight. I've got some practice to do with elevation, but the windage is not bad for 100 yards.

| Member | Barrel date is correct for date of manufacture which is early 1943. Slide is a Saginaw Grand Rapids. Front sight is a type 1 or 2 Rock-Ola Type 2 milled rear sight was originally installed on Rock-Ola, Winchester, Standard Products & IBM. | Senior Member | D in a diamond is Donaldson manufacturing and the WA/M mag catch is Walt Manufacturing. Check the top front left edge of the stock for an S.A. marking. It could be a Springfield Armory M2 stock. The safety, sear and trigger will most likely also be marked, if and when you get around to disassembling the trigger group.

| One Buwwit Weft | Thanks Jimb2!! I've got a couple USGI manuals (repros) that show and explain the entire dissassembly of the trigger group, but I think I'll avoid taking it apart unless needed. I had given the stock a good look over before and studied it again after your info, and I just can't find any marks on the stock.  I don't have a muzzle wear gauge, but I'm pretty sure it was rated as a rack grade because of a higher muzzle wear. If I take a 30-06 round and stick it in the end of the barrel on my Service Grade Garands, they have well over 3/16" between the barrel top and the brass. On this old Carbine that measurement is just a touch over 1/16" with the same round. Oh well, it's fun to shoot, and it doesn't shoot BAD by any means. I'll enjoy it for exactly what it is.. I kicked around refinishing the stock, but the paint pen marked #19 is part of the rifle, and I'm gonna leave it just like it was sent to me.

| One Buwwit Weft | Thanks for the info, Everyone!!  Of course, just like any other rifle, I now want another..  I'll need to wait a bit, as I found a 1903 A3 that's going to steal my overtime play money for a while, but I'll be rounding up another one of these little Carbines before they're gone.
