Great Day! :(

Welp, I hope everyone else's day is going better than mine. I just got home after spending four hours in the emergency room because a u-joint cap exploded while I was driving it out, sending several metal splinters into the palm of my left hand.
I dug one out but the other two are too deep. After all of that, the doc told me they weren't worth going after, gave me a tetanus shot, and sent me home.
Work should be a ton 'o fun next week!

I spent four hrs in the E.R this morning myself. Breathing issues. Just pisses me off 'cause it's so nice a day here that I long to get that boat out on the watter and attack some fish.

After defying death several times after my open heart surgery on 7/25/2006 at the tender young age of 50, I appreciate just being here to complain.

Fish better look out next week!

Sounds like no fun at all! You two take care of yourselves. Toolman, I am just glad those metal fragments didn't go into your eye! Easier to deal with a bum hand than a bum eye.

Heal up quick guys!

Damn Toolman how did you manage to explode a u-joint cap ? I have changed 100s of u-joints over the years and have never had that happen. I do get statrled when I have to heat those stupid GM plastic injection/ retained u-joints prior to removing them. All that heat makes the grease inside go POW! some times, happened twice just the other day. Let me know so I dont do what you did !

Heal quickly !

Hope your feeling better soon.

I use the Hyd press at work for those silly things. A large vise will suffice too.

The guy had been driving this thing with a bad u-joint for months and one cap had cracked up the side and started cracking across the face. When I tried to drive it out, it shattered along the edge of the crack.
My palm is nice and blue this morning, alomg with being stiff and sore. I think what caused the most trouble was, a piece hit a major blood source which caused the center of my palm to swell up like there was a large marble under the skin and it started squirting like a little geyser-really freaked the customer out, as he was standing there when it happened.
