winchester model 94

my father was given a winchester model 94 sereial number 1288690 and was wondering what year it was. also, it is in good condition...approx value? what/how can/should you restore this? or should it be left alone?

You can prety much eliminate '43-'45 as wartime production was all military. (M1's M1 carbines, etc)

It appears that the records keeping went lapse during war production but the lever guns were still produced and not ALL was military.

His might be somewhat rare.
