| Militia (United States) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia As usual, I'm always looking for some type of historical fact and fire to protect our rights as gun owners. militia - definition at YourDictionary That one is the strict definition, but the 3rd one can be twisted against us, I think. Also, it kind of lets us know on our rights as citizns to form a legal milltia, with maybe city/state backing NOT funding, to deal with some things unarmed..... or armed. | FYI...Wikipedia is the worst resource for anything really and is largely shunned by anybody in politics or academia. But I think the last part of the 2nd is pretty clear on who can own guns...and thats just about anybody within reason. |

| Senior Member | Wiki is quite fun to read thou I can't back up any claim for or against it's creditability. In regards to the topic, I seen this topic quite a bit. A few people are afraid to use the word because it conjures up some bad history parts. Like for example, the ski mask. If you wear one, people will assume your about to rob the place. Would I join one, eh, I'd have to check it out and see how far they take it. Personally, my friends and I going to the range, why not call that a militia meeting, maybe its a tax write off?

| Blame bad folks orgianizing under "millitia" and bad media for capitolizing on it. Mostly why I put it there was for our borders with Mexico. If everybody is so concrete about doing something, then do so. Especially if our politicians seem to be ignoring us. Vigilanty-ism is not justified, but acting as concerned citizens is. Not only that, it's "old school" in that fact that they used to do that in the old days when problems were not so easily solved by our government or local authorities. As always, it's food for thought. |
