I'll admit guys both in and out of the service I have spent a great deal of time in a tent and tarps/ parachute shrouds in the outdoors. However as I have aged I have found that while I still find the experience attractive and fun it is no longer very comfortable or practical for the wife and I. We own an older pickup and a small slide in cab over camper that is comfy for the both of us the few concessions to convienece is a radio and the galley . Even though 90% of our cooking is still over a fire at our campsite.

I have a Starbuck's stainless steel french press/travel mug. All I need is a hotwater source (I've got a small backpacker's coleman one burner stove) and medium ground coffee. It makes gourmet coffee. I can never go back to instant coffee, even while camping.

Tent or motor home

With the price of fuel I prefer the tent.

This weekend we are going on a gun holiday two other families of Gun and Game participants. The weather is 40s and rain so we chickened out and got cabins rather than the squad tent.

We will be shooting everything from single shot to full auto M2. 50BMG. Perhaps we need to give a report later.

I don't have a camper but want one. The idea of standing up out of the rain always appealed to me, and this time of year storms always blow through when you don't want them to. Keeping the coolers inside due to the drunk teenagers sounds nice, so does not sleeping on the ground for 4 days straight. That and my deer spot is 2 hours drive, with a camper it would be 5 minutes.

My son and i have always used tents when it is warm enough, but are used to "roughing it" in the bed of my old Explorer or truck in the winter.

If the dogs find a rattler within 25 ft. of our site.. I will sleep in the truck..too many instances with snakes in the morning where I camp...and if I or my son gets bit where we are... there's no coming home.

while camping, I prefer truck beds, or a tent, but I'm equally comfortable w/ a bed roll and no tent or truck if it's not rainy

camping

We always camp in a tent. Now and then I wouldn't mind having a camper like when really, really hot or really, really cold!

Tent, if I wanted to camp in something that had a toilet and A/C I'd stay inside a house.
