| As far as I'm concerned with the ammo, you're pretty much right. A lot of people refuse to carry any caliber that doesn't start with a .4 or higher. 9 has virtually the same ballistics as a .40 and in most states you get higher ammo capacity with the 9. I guess it's all personal preference though when it comes down to it. Every now and then I hear people complaining about the poor stopping power of the 9 overseas. Understand that the military uses ball ammo due to international law, not the premium self defense ammo available to the civilian market. Don't own an XD so can't help you on which to buy. I'm a skinny guy and I carry a full size 1911A1 .45 or Sig 226R 9mm with no problems concealing either. I hear a lot of good things though about the XD in both calibers.
