| Gas piston removal
So I bought a new gas piston to try and fix my short recoil. I can't get the old one out. There is no pin that holds it into place and the old gas piston is destroyed from me using a pipe wrench and a torch....it just won't come loose. It's a Century Arms AK so that explains alot of it's quality, but it can work, just it won't co-operate with me.

century arms? what manufacturer? why the pipe wrench and torch? why not add a little more heat then you can shoot around corners. Im sorry for your loss.

I'll have to take mine apart to see, but once you clip off the top piece the bolt carrier slides out and the piston unscrews off the end

This is how it should look, the bolt carrier is the bigger piece and the piston unscrews off the end. Overall, the AK is pretty easy to take a part and put back together. I took mine apart from just watching a youtube video once, and then mimic'd what the guy did. |

Chain- The pin is there, it just might be buffed over. Does the piston say US on it anywhere. Can you see a depression where the pin should be?

hmmm, my exploded view never showed a pin, mine's a wasr-10 2008 model, either it doesnt have pin, or my papers arent detailed enough........1 more thing, what's the difference in long and short pistons, are they for 2 different guns? or will both fit a standard ak?

To clear a few things up: Century Arms is the importer. They installed a US Compliance gas piston they manufacture and it's too small. The gas piston on my bolt carrier looks like a fat noodle now. I cannot see any retaining pin to the gas piston. I just see threading. It is a standard WASR-10. This AK has been a pain in my ass ever since I bought it. |

Chain- If you see threads it mighy have been welded on! You might be looking at a new carrier! WAY back in this forum, this was discussed. I recommend going back to the beginning and researching. Might save you some $ !!!!
