I have a Steyr SBS ProHunter (now manufactured under Mannlicher, I believe) in .308.

Best shooting rifle I have ever shot.

The steyr m1a is the next gun on my list to purchase, when I pick it up in the gun store it just seems to become part of my hand. Hope a gun ban doesnt go into effect before I can pick it up, have to wait on my tax return.

I don't think Steyr pistols are on the front end of a ban, though 10+ rd mnagazines would be.

Sounds like a 95, 8 x 56 Rimmed. New production ammo is out there-try Graffs, dies are available, bullets are available but expensive (they are .329 OD). I resize Speer Hot Core .338 bullets in a Lee resizing die, and they work great. You can get brass or resize 7.62 x 54R and fireform. Expect it to shoot HIGH. I haven't gotten around to machining new front sites, and my shop is so busy it looks like maybe next year, but the front site needs to be taller. I have infantry rifle and carbine and cavalry carbine. Carbines kick more than my Mosin 38. Very well made and interesting rifles. Check the book "Firearms Assembly and Diassembly" for instructions. I also have a 1912 Steyr Hahn. Now I want to get a shop to grind a carbide insert for the steel die I bought to reload 9mm Steyr. Enjoy the new rifle. And that Steyr pistol looks great! I'd like to get one.

Just Bought My new hole puncher

Just shot my new tactical elite 308 with S&B 3X12. Awsome rifle. Not as light as my Sauers but shot 10 shot group in a clover leaf at 150 meters. I have not seen many of this model ever but happy I found her.

Bass pro

The tactical elite is usually expensive, I found this one in a Bass Pro shop in orlando. I paid $1500, which incredibly reasonable.

I have a Steyr SSG 69 P1 sniper rifle.

I have been shooting this rifle for 30 years. It was my army weapon for 16 years.

It is very reliable. I have no problem with the Steyr sniper rifle.
