lol thanks swede, and mike...well.....

It's alright, I was looking up some of the other modification articles and I couldn't see the dovetail on the M44 so I held off until I had confirmation, I figured Swede would come along soon enough.

I got that scope mount on the 44 right now, I've just heard some conflicting reports on it's stability, so I was going to try the dovetail later if the mount started to lose zero.

Pretty soon i'm just going to weld the darn weaver to the barrel and call it good, that ATI mount looks good but I don't trust myself tapping my receiver.

I think the best equal medium is the SKS mount for the shorter site mounts like the M44, it has about 3 fall backs to prevent drift.

Thanks for the discussion mike, learned a lot so far.

yeah, me too....i learned to not let my fingers talk faster than my brain can correct em lol

also, i wouldn't suggest u try tapping ur own receiver, a gunsmith should be able to do for a decent price....prolly $50 or less if you dont rush him, let him take his time...i find they tend to lower price if you tell em "no rush, just call me when you get it done"

so you have the M44 adapter scope mount? grab ur scope and swing the gun around over ur head, then go out and see if it still shoots straight

next, hold it upside down with scope closest to ground, about 1foot off ground, use a mat so not to scratch floor, then drop it....then go see if it still hits target ROFL

oh yeah, guess what the "great wizard of id-iocy" did....when i left for my 3.5hr drive across state....i forgot to bring my newly smithed 91/30 with me

i knew i forgot something, just couldnt pin-point it till i arrived and someone asked to see my rifle <cries>

i may spend $60 in gas just to go up there again tomorrow and pick it up and run....but how am i going to explain the mileage on company truck -.-
