| Just saying HI I'm on a few other boards, but since I finally got a Yugo SKS, I decided to get on a specific board. The bolt, action and bore are shiny, crisp with no wear. I can't say for sure, but it looks like it was never shot, or at least gently used. The one beef I have is the length. I've seen and like the looks of the A2 birdcade brake. Does anyone know where I can find one. I've looked on Ebay but I missed the auction. Here's the only picture I have right now. The stock has since been cleaned and restained with PolyCoat. ![]() Last edited by dispatch55126; 03-17-2008 at 09:09 PM. Reason: Wrong Pic |

| 2 reasons. First, as I mentioned, is the length. Its as long as my muzzleloader and almost as long as my 91/30. Second, I'd like to reduce some of the weight without permanently ruining the rifle. I could go with another SKS that is shorter, but this one is very accurate and I like the inherent strengths of the Yugo. Its so overbuild that I will never worry about wearing it out. |

| Senior Member | Hola and welcome! Now to make it lighter, just remove the bayonet on the front! You could also remove the cleaning rod since it isn't practical. That will take off a very noticeable amount of weight from the front of the rifle. The bayonet is attached with a single screw. Look around on the web for instructions on how to properly take it off. It's spring loaded so it could pop off and dent the floor or something. It's not dangerously spring loaded. Just enough to pop off the end and go a foot or two.

| Senior Member | As for length, all you can do is have a gunsmith shorten the barrel(that's very permanent. I don't suggest it) or you could buy a folding or telescoping stock.

| Hello and welcome to G&G. As for the SKS, it is yours, you can do as you wish, but, if it aint broke don't fix it. lol Also, why risk affecting what you've come to like about it?

| Welcome to G&G// If you like it then why change it? Its yours to do with as you wish but careful not to make it lose what you like about it

| The bayonet may find its way back. I thinks it looks better with the bayonet on, but I'm playing with the weight and comfort right now. |
