Unknown M 1 Carbine manufacturer

I have a WWII Carbine purschased by my father, thru the CMP. about 1950. I'm not able to identify the manufacturer. I've been thru all the books and can't find a match. Every thing - Milled front sight, milled adj rear sight, flip saftey ...indicates late manufacture. Under the Rear sight are the initials E. F. M. below that is the S/N 2997. Rear sight is marked H inside a shield. Barrel band marked MMO. Hammer is marked E. Stock marked P inside a box under the grip. Left stock RRA ..right side stock crossed cannons with a circle. Can anyone out there tell me what I have ?

That's right where it is .. like I said it's E. F. M. do you have any idea what those initials stand for ?

doesnt jive with USGI manufacturers.

Erma Firearm Manufacturer of Steelville,Missouri. Made in the 60`s, check left side of receiver below woodline. Later models have Erma stamped on the left side, early style does not.

Didnt come from DCM ( CMP) either

Erma was a commercial manufacturer, not a GI maker. The gun definately did not come through DCM.

Sure these initials E.F.M. are not stamped on the stock? Initials E. F. M. would most likely indicate (Earl F. Mc Farland), who was a former government arsenal inspector. Your serial number 2997 reminds me of a Plainfield Machine Co. (Commercial) M1 Carbine I once owned, which was serial # 8551? This number was stamped on the side of my Carbine receiver, of my commercial Plainfield. Otherwise, I am at a loss here? If it was military contracted, I would think it would be in the Inland Division of General Motors, very early serial numbered assigned range, and marked as such? Interesting!

McFarland inspected Garands, not carbines.
