Replacement Sights for BuckMark Camper?

I just purchased a new basic model Buckmark Camper. It was the only Buckmark model readily available in my area so I bought it.

I would have preferred a more expensive model with better sights, but it was either the basic model, or nothing at all. All of the dealers have dozens of the most basic model on hand, but none of the more refined models.

I haven't had a chance to test it out yet, but right away I noticed that those miserable black on black sights would just have to go, or I would never be able to take advantage of the pistol's accuracy.

I like the idea of iron sights, but I just wish they had better contrast.

I read something about TruGlo sights, but I don't know if they will fit the basic camper model, or even how good they are.

Suggestions are appreciated.

However, there are two versions listed. One is for a rear sight over 1 inch long, while the other is for a rear sight less than 1 inch long.

Does anyone know if this is just a matter of personal taste, or if the rear sight length is tied to a very specific model of Buckmark?

My experience has been that 'fire sights' tend to be chunky and thick - not good for precision shooting! Good for general use in low light - that's about all they are good for. But, YMMV!
I used Testor's model paint on my Buckmark's sights. Rear is outlined in white, the back face of the front sight is painted red. It works for me.

Glad you told me about that. I'm not fond of thick sights either, especially not for long range shooting.

Maybe I'll try the paint approach. Even if I mess it up, it can't be any worse than black on black.

greetings. i have the same deal, i filed the front sight to make it a barleycorn. finer sight picture for me, but its plastic and did not work well. my boys both have cricket 22s and they have an excellent fine front sight that looks like it would drop right in a camper. i am going to order one from keystone, as they are cheap and a good fine barleycorn for precision shooting.

Yep, I commonly fit thinner and more precise sights to my twentytwo rifles - pistols are a bit more difficult.
My buddy has two Taurus PT-92 pistols - the older one has finer sights and groups very well. The second is much more recent production, and it's hard to get it to group well - the thick front sight blocks the bullseye.
This carries over to rimfires too. Most have rather clunky sights. Okay for quick target acquisition for combat shooting - not good for real target shooting!
