acarpeter, O3A3 going for $600 easy here. Very nice. Hope she's a good shooter. Give us range report later. Try taking her out to 600 yards. Paper, it's tough when a Smith Corona has Remington parts on it. It's an insult! My SC is almost back to a correct SC. Spent at about another $100 to do so. Found the SC at Garage sale back in 2000, still in NRA box, negociated $225.

I don't like to envy anyone. Not a quality I like, not even in myself. So Paper, I'll just say I'm jealous of you both. lol

| Just like Tex finding a Tula M44, I happened to be in the right place, at the right time.. The gun was on consignment, and a "kid" was within seconds of buying it last week, but backed out at the last minute and decided to buy something a bit more modern.. I saw it and decided I wasn't going to pass on it. I could have saved the money to put towards a new roof, but what fun is a roof??

Oh I am very pleased with my 03A3 don't get me wrong, but this was my first time to take the step from the cheaper surplus rifles to the moderately expensive ones. Just want to be proud of something that is worth two months rent... but now I am in love with it. can't stop picking it up and holding it. haha. Will have range report sometime... though if if you really want me to go six hundred yards it will have to be at a friends land because our shooting range only goes to 100... haha I am very much looking forward to tomorrow however... K98 coming in the mail!!! K98 is here. Go check my photo album. Last edited by acarpenter; 03-28-2008 at 09:06 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

Thanks AC. Started clicking around in GnG menus. Found it! Nice rifles, very nice. The K-31 is absolutely gorgeous. I started an album too. Check the M1 Garand custom made Mesquite wood stock. Wow! I can post 57 more pics. AC, are you a member of the Texas State Rifle Association? There are classic rifle matches sponserd by local gun clubs. ---------------------------------------------------------- Now you have to feed your babys! ![]() ![]() Paper, found SC bolt from parts dealer in Florida and the other parts on Ebay. (before they went anti-freedom)

Hmm I shall have to check into that. I have never been involved with any type of competition shooting, but I bet it would quite fun! Glad you liked the pics. Taking them showed me the true skill it requires to end up with excellent pics of a rifle... |

| RANGE REPORT!
100 yds, windy. The first four are in the circle, but I kinda jerked on the last one. MY FIRST 100 yd bullseye! One of my best shooters! Also, I took my new K98 out, and it fired nicely, but a bit high (shortest sighting is 200) any suggestions? |

Why to Hammer 'em ACarpeter! NO jerking-on while your at the range! Which one was the first, second and thrid shots? Where you on a bench rest? If on bench; did you postion rifle the same each shot and did you position you body/arms the same? (very important) Did you fire on the inhale or exhale? Are you focusing on the front sight? Ammo? commercial or milsup? Sight picture; full tire? flat tire? half tire? The links I sent you in PM, any help?

I think the 1st shot was the one to the right of the bullseye, second was the bullseye, third the one directly above the bullseye, the fourth and fifth are the crappy ones... I was on the concrete benches that the range has, which aren't really ideal because you have to use sand bags to rest your gun on. (I hate that because they always relocate on me) I tried to reposition myself the same each time, but I am sure it wasn't as good as it could have been. As to the breathing techniques, I could never choose one that felt best. Which do you prefer? Focused on the front sight for sure. Milsurp ammo, which I actually kind of liked (I can't remember which one dangit), but I wouldn't be surprised if less accurate than commercial. Not familiar with sight picture... but if I had to guess... full tire?I checkout out the links, and the second one I think will be pretty helpful. TEACH ME TO HIT DEAD CENTER EVERY TIME! haha |

Had to laugh reading you two. Ya sound just like me as far as getting new firearms. In December of 07 alone I bot 8 shotguns, a Bushmaster AR-15, a Winchester 94, a Henry 22 Goldenboy, and a rusty Garand. Im sitting somewhere around 140 guns total. But every one I get I do the same as you, take it apart, check it out, clean it, oil it and cant wait to go touch some off through it.

Well, what can we say? I dunno about Jack, but I know I am addicted... I have been collecting since December, and already have seven. Thats fair I guess? I am really selective, and only buy military guns. I already have the next three lined up though. 1. Carbine 2. Garand 3. Finn M39 or Persian Mauser? I have learned so much about guns in general, and I love it. And I definately agree with your last sentence.

Enjoy the addiction. It sounds like you three got it bad. I have tried to mellow out some, but invariably I get sucked in. Wanted a carbine, got one . . . and three more barreled receivers. |

| Military Rifle Collector ![]() | Just wait till you get that M1 Carbine and M1 Garand. They are the most fun guns to shoot. The only guns I have found more fun are full automatics. You will love em.
