I seen centerfiresystems.com has a 500 round brick of wolf 9mm for $74.00. Does anyone know of a cheaper place I can get it, before I order it? Thanks

That's non-reloadable steel case ammo, by the time you pay shipping you may as well just get CCI/Blazer for $8.95/box at your local store. That's what it was last time I seen it.

Hey Pontiac...do the math...500 rds = 10 boxes at $8.95 @ box = $89.50 versus $75.
CCI/Blazer is aluminum cased and isn't reloadable either, unless they've gone to brass recently.
Shop around a bit more...try Cabela's; Midway; J&G; Cheaper than Dirt; Ammotoyou

You're forgetting the shipping charge jarhead, by the time you add that you're almost up to the CCI stuff you can buy a box at a time. And it's American made CCI/Speer, got a lot better rep than that Wolf made-in-Cambodia -or-wherever stuff.

Made in Russia... and I'll trust steel-cased Wolf in any of my firearms over aluminum-cased CCI any day of the week.

Yup, and reading the comments there, some like it, some don't. Same with the comments regarding CCI; though the guys that like it say they like it because it works and is cheap and the ones taht don't say they found split cases at the range. When's the last time you heard of a split steel case you found at the range?

I'll admit, I don't like how dirty Wolf is, but it's cheap, reliable and safe. I use it in my CETME which has a fluted chamber that vents gases back into the action, so I get residue all in the action and in the magazine, but it's not terrible (not baked-on or anything, just dust). I just clean it when I get home.

I was wondering if the comments regarding how dirty and foul smelling Wolf ammo is were true. What kind of powder are those rooskies using that would create such a stink and smudge the gun up so badly ? Are the cases really laquer coated? At least the Blazer stuff doesn't gunk your gun up.

I just bought blazer brass at wallyworld sunday for $8.97 per 50, looking at the reciept right now. I shot off about a hundred rounds through my ruger p95 with no problems.

The lacquer is not an issue and they've recently changed to polymer coating. It's the fact that the steel doesn't expand like the brass does in the chamber and you get some carbon deposits in the chamber that end up for a sticky extraction when you go to use brass cartridges; no problem if you just stick to steel. (The Box O' Truth - Educational Zone #18 - Shooting Wolf steel-cased Ammo in an AR15)

Not sure what kind of powder it is, but there's really not that bad of a smell. I mean, I had a worse smell (like chlorine) out of the South African .308 ball that I got in a battlepack than I do out of the lacquer-coated Wolf .308Win I have. The powder just may be designed for a barrel that doesn't have fluting and/or will allow it to burn longer under pressure, unlike my CETME and other fluted chambered firearms and those with shorter barrels... that's just a theory, though. It could just be a poor burning powder (but it sure is got a decent kick!) and just leave a carbon residue. That might be why it's so cheap... cheap powder.

But, it's low-cost, safe, reliable, and easy enough to clean up after (unlike cosmoline)... so I'm going to continue buying and using it.

That's good to hear, Blazer in reloadable brass at the same cost as the aluminum case stuff. I'll have to check out W-mart. And it's clean, not smudge-pot powder that's the cheapest the Russians can cram into a case and still call smokeless.

I haven't bought 9mm rounds in a long time but boy has the price skyrocketed! 7 years ago I remember picking up a case of 1,000 rounds of 9mm Winchester USA ammo FMJ for $45 bucks at Wal Mart! They have once a year sale on ammo and to my knowledge might still be one of the cheapest place in town.

Well, I decided to go with the Wolf from Centerfire. I ordered a 1000 round case. The total with shipping came to $159.63, that comes to $7.98 a box. I couldn't pass that up. I called today to check the order and they said it was on back order and it just came in. She also said they were adding free cleaning kits to everyone who ordered to make up for the delay. I love it!
