| Senior Member | OK, so I have this Yugo AK from Century with the gas shut-off valve on the gas block which I'm told is for launching grenades. The way I understand it is that you put the grenade launcher on the muzzle threads in place of the muzzle brake, mount the grenade on the launcher, flip up the shutoff valve handle/grenade sight, load a ballistic blank round, aim and fire. Sounds pretty cool to me! Now here's my questions. First off, would it be legal to do this for fun out in the desert with INERT rifle grenades? If not, then forget the whole thing. Assuming it's legal, where would one get the grenade launcher and the INERT rifle grenades? Last, assuming it's legal and I can get the INERT rifle grenades, would this be a good idea??? I would think that the 1.5mm receiver and all would be up to the task, but it's got a new barrel (non-chromed bore and all) from Century. Would this over-stress anything on my rifle? Has anyone else done this with their AK? Please remember that I want to be LEGAL and SAFE while being eccentric and exploring the many capabilities of my rifles ![]() Thanks in advance ! |

| Senior Member | just_a_car, Thanks for the reply! I looked over the Nevada laws via the BATFE website and there's nothing there to indicate it's illegal, so I might just have to do this I've found the specific launching blanks (not just parade blanks), the launcher tube adapter, and with your help and some googling some nice adapters. I was hoping to find more of the rocket shaped inert grenades, but hey, I can live with what they've got ![]() Thanks again and have fun! |

| Senior Member | Parrot, I know for the SKS they have golf ball and tennis ball launchers as well. You may want to look into these, from what i remember they have them for the AK. Heres the website: Bloom Automatic Golf Ball Launchers Hope this helps out for you. I've been wanting to get one for my SKS, and if you do please tell me how much fun it is. I figured the golf ball one would be fun and cheap, range balls aren't very expensive. haha, just noticed thats the same website JAC put up.... o well, theres another link for you! | Senior Member | F1609, thanks for stopping by! I did quite a bit of googling last night and that was one of the things I found. The trouble is that I only have a slant brake on the muzzle right now and I don't really want to spend the $15 for the AR style flash hider just to get the golf ball launcher to fit. I really want to be able to launch some of the inert dummy rifle grenades, too. While searching, I found a NEW U.S. PRODUCTION (gotta love compliance parts!) AK grenade launcher at FAC Supply for $32.95 plus shipping. That would allow me to do both the golf balls and the rifle grenades! Of course, I also had to find rifle grenade launching blanks (parade blanks just won't do!) and it turns out that Hi-Vel Inc. has them in stock and ready to ship. Now for the INERT, DUMMY rifle grenades! Aside from the link provided by just_a_car, I found a place called Service Of Supply that makes all sorts of reproduction WWII items including foam rubber rifle grenade reproductions! I'll likely have to wait at least a few weeks for financial reasons, but I think I'm gonna have to try this out ![]() Thanks again! |

| Senior Member | No probelm. I'm not sure if the launcher for the AK will be 22mm or not. But I have found some 22mm Inert Grenades only, but they tend to be a little pricey. Good luck and I hope you find what you are looking for. Now to make a rifle golf course! |

| Senior Member | Hey Parrothead, feel lucky that you have that Yugo... I have a Romanian build (AES-10) and the gas block doesn't have any valve to speak of. There's absolutely no way to go "single shot" with this rifle. Edit: I did a quick 'research' and found that only the AKM (Yugo M70B) that has the flip-up grenade-launching sight has the gas block cut-off. When the sight is flipped-up, it cuts off the passage and all gases stay in the barrel. There may be other models with the grenade-launching sight and thus, the gas block cut-off, but I'm currently not aware of them.

| Senior Member | I think you'll find that 22mm is the international standard. |

| Senior Member | F1609, My understanding is that the 22mm is what originally was used on these AKs. It's the one I linked to a couple of posts up. Just_a_Car, that's my understanding, too. I got the Yugo because of the 1.5mm thick receiver material and found out about the grenade sight/gas shut-off valve later and considered it an added bonus. Anything cool and quirky gets my vote and it's even better if I can find a way to play with it! Wunhunglo, I do recall reading that 22mm is the NATO standard. Thanks for chipping in! Have fun y'all ! |

| Senior Member | For some reason, they never really took off with the American forces but were much more popular with the Europeans. We had the bullet trap type in Africa in the 70's/80's but we were all very wary of sticking one on the end of your rifle and sticking a live round up it's backside!!!!! |

| Senior Member | wunhunglo, you got me laughing with that one! Instructor: "You see, you arm the explosive device, attach it to the end of your rifle, and then you fire a live bullet into the end of it. Any questions?" Student: "You want me to do WHAT???" |

| Senior Member | Just about right, except you attached it first, then armed it, then prayed. Students were actually no problem, they just nodded their heads & said, "Yes bass"! And remember this,"" If you can't take a laugh, you shouldn't have joined!"" |
