| Old shotgun This is my dad's dad's gun. I'm pretty sure it was made in the early 1900's. All I can see on this gun is Montgomery Ward on the rib. It's a double barrel 32" full choke barrel with two triggers. It doesn't even have full choke written on it but I remember using the dime method to check it. I know the guns are even more full now than in years past but isn't it if a dime won't fit it's a full choke? It has a walnut stock. Actually my main question is who made this gun? I may be mistaken but didn't most of the doubles back then have hammers? I'm thinking this may be one of the first hammerless. It still locks up fine but I don't think it's a high quality gun. Help me out on any of the questions if you can? Thanks

| Senior Member | hmmmm....hammerless, nice, lemme do some checking for ya, i'm trying to lookup info on an old gun i'm trying to restore also, all it says on rib is "Bridge Gun Works - Belgium" here's a link i found that may give you an idea, considering many guns that were sold by montgomery ward, sears, etc also had the sellers mark on them, like your Montgomery-Ward....this link shows an EA hammerless from sears, but montgomery ward could've sold this model as well: Sears Shotguns 1936 Ad click the link to show full size and see if you can compare the pic of their's to your grandaddy's gun.

| Senior Member | Sooner Shooter Hard to say without the picture but i think Montgomery Wards out of Chicago, Illinois. Names like Western Field and Hercules have been used to designate various Mont. Wards shotguns at various times. I think the model SD52A Is what ya have but wait for the better educated viewers to comment..... They also made a SB312 double triggers but i don't think it came in a 32" barrel........... |

| Take the fore-end & barrels off and note down everything and all numbers stamped on the shotgun; make life easy for us. |

| If you have access to Blue Book of Gun Values there is a chart in the back that may help. Not real sure but I remember reading somewhere that a lot of different manufacturers made firearms for MW and Sears as well as others.
