| Senior Member | .308 resizing Stupid question but I have been experimenting with handloads using a lee classic hand load kit. (you know the $15 kit) The kit states that it only "neck-sizes" the brass. I have noticed my brass getting harder to chamber after about 2 reloads. Could this be from only neck sizing, and not full case resizing?. Any help would be appreciated. |

| Sounds like it. You firing it in a standard bolt action or in an auto? |

| It could also be a sign of too much pressure. What is your load data? Ron |

| It could be that you may need to trim the brass as well |

My assumption has been that the brass expands too large for the Rem but OK for the Savage though I rally don't know why. I just merrily full length for one and neck size for the other. You may need to get a full length resizer.

| Those $15.00 kits you are talking about arent much. They only neck resize and if it takes any force at all you bump the shoulder out making them hard,or usually impossible to chamber. You have to full length resize to get them to chamber again, and then they do it again you are back to the same thing. You would have to have access to a press and flr die. They came out with those kit things years ago and I thought they didnt make them any more.I guess they do.The only way I would know to get by with one is to buy either new brass or find brass that will chamber before loading and use slow burning powder like IMR4350 or slower and keep the CUP pressure below 45,000lbs.Lee might make a low priced press and full length die that would fix you up.Be sure and lubricate the neck good and if flr, ing, the whole case.Use the minimum in powder charges. sam. |

Cartridge Loads - Hodgdon Reloading Data Center - data.hodgdon.com Extrapolating from the 150 grain (which is not always a good thing to do) would suggest a maximum of 48.5 minus about 2 grains or 46.5. So you may be up there in pressure, and I wonder why Hodgdon does not list a load for that powder in the 165 grain -- perhaps to fast burning for that weight of bullet? As I said, hopefully others with more experience will comment. On the press, for just ease of use if nothing else, I would suggest going to a bench mounted press. I think the Lee Classic Cast is a great press for well under $100, and their Challenger is good too for much less. Ron

| Senior Member | I will definately be going to a bench mounted press. Basically picked up the hand reload kit to learn the essentials. Cartridge Loads - Hodgdon Reloading Data Center - data.hodgdon.com Last edited by jaeger; 03-21-2008 at 08:10 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

| I've got a Lee hand reloaded in 375 win. Big Bore and it didn't do a good job overall. Is it worth anything being an odd ball caliber that's no longer available ? Do people collect reloading stuff ? Thanks A.H |
