I know you are hit with this topic as far as using a rimfire on yotes, but I also believe there are many other calibers that you could use that might be of better use. you can kill them with 17 HMR and it is very misunderstood the damage that it can do.
I own multiple calibers ranging from 17 HMR to 45-70, Im not saying the 17 HMR would be the first gun to reach for, but if its the only thing I have in my hand when i see a yote, then Im going to shoot.

What to keep in mined with this caliber.
range?
I'm I sighted properly for this distance?
Glass(is it a crappy 4x 15mm scope)
MOST IMPORTANT : DO I FEEL CONFIEDENT IN MAKING THIS SHOT?
and SHOT PLACEMENT! HEAD=DEAD

All in all, spend a lil hard earned money on a good .243/.223 with a good scope tell us about those 200+ yrd shots.
