Well my thinking on this is (and remember while I am successful I am no Daniel Boone) to use very little scent control. Its just not worth it.

Deer have a VERY good sense of smell and they can easily smell "layers" such as a drug dog can smell a kg of blow packed in coffee beans. When they smell they can actually separate out the different smells. So with this fact you need to make one of 2 choices.

1. Go low tech and take a few simple and cheap precautions and use the wind to your advantage.

Use scent free soap to shower
Use scent free soap to wash your clothes
Use different blinds/stands depending on wind or just stalk hunt

2. Go all out and buy the best you can get and take every precaution.

Use the high dollar scent eliminators on everything you are taking into the field.
Use the high dollar scent free soaps to wash everything in
Use the good scent blocker carbon suits to cover every inch of your body and remember they are only good for a week or so of use so buy plenty of them.
Use a special pair of rubber boots.
Remember also that none of this will do any good if you dont keep it stored right.

Even if you blew all the cash and was super meticulous about it you still wont be scent free but darn close to it, of course unless you sweat, then your screwed.

Of course you might of guessed that I chose #1. I just use plain ol perfume free soaps and thats it. I have a friend that swears by brewing up some concoction of cedar tree leaves and bark, then spraying it on his washed clothes and stuff, but honestly I dont think its worth the trouble. Just dont have any "loud" smells like body odor, fuel oils etc and you'll do just as good as anybody else except maybe the very few people going all out. Even then you can be more successful than them by sharpening your hunting skills by working on "old fashion nonsense" skills like riflemanship, tracking, stalking and the plethora of other wood lore that nature will gladly teach you for free if you just pay attention.

Most of the claims scent blockers and such make appears to me to be very skeptical. I am positive most of it is just geared toward getting hunters to spend more money. If you watch too many of those idiotic hunting shows, which are nothing more than infomercials, you will find yourself "needing" a lot of worthless junk.

Also remember that people have been successfully hunting game for thousands of years without all that crap.
