Scope question - Page 2

If I am paying 300, 400 or 500 bucks for a scope I am gonna be careful not to drop it or bang it around so I havent ever really found out which ones are the toughest.

If,they say 'tactical' on them,they mean 'tough'.Tactical,s are designed for combat situations,and the ones I have seen hold up to it. sam.

Personally I am very partial to the fixed power scopes of the Super Sniper series sold at SWFA, I have 2 of them one on my AR and one on my 17 HMR.
they have held up in extreme heat and extreme cold. I don't think they can be beat for the money.
Now before I got the first SS10X42 , I mounted a Mueller. That scope really surprised me and I still own it and have it on my 25-06.
The only time I would spend over 325.00 on a scope is for extreme long range shooting past 600 yards or for competition.
I am pretty rough with my equipment and I can tell ya, these 2 brands hold up allot better than many think they would for the price.
Here are a few pics I had laying around of the Mueller while mounted on my AR.

This pic was to show the red dot and German reticle, it was taken at dusk and I wasn't really focusing the scope so it doesnt show the actual quality.

I would see it as--

If they say "Tactical" on them, they mean, Hey- I bet if we put Tactical on the box, more people will think it sounds expensive and buy it...

If a scope is well built and tough, the customers will say so. The company will ALWAYS say what they make is well built and tough.

my eradicator is working with my 308 just fine.

yesterday at the range there were some law enforcement guys there who have REALLY nice guns .
a couple of them asked to look through that mueller and couldnt get over the clarity.
i compared my scope with 5 other top of the line scopes side by side and couldnt see any difference.
they couldnt either!
i think mueller got some new customers.
i didnt write down what scopes those cops were using so i dont know what they were.

I have been putting several Nikon Buckmaster 6x18x40 target dots on customers varmit rifles lately. They run me $270 with shipping. I own 4 of them myself. Atfer reading these replies I will try a Mueller on my nre Remington. Brandon
