Question hunting with your spanish lady?

Would anybody use their cetme to go deer hunting? I have been invited on a future trip and I dont have a hunting rifle, and the cetme is a 308 which is a highly preferd round for taking deer.

Hunt away man! I use my Cetme and actually prefer it over my Stevens model 200 also in .308. A good scope and mount are fairly easy to come by. I have a Tapco dual-rail SWAT mount and a Tasco 3x9x40 Golden antler on mine. Here in Alabama an average shot ranges from 50yds to 250yds, well within reach of your Cetme. However you should check you're state regs concerning magazine capacity. In Alabama we're only allowed 10rds in a hunting rifle. I bought 2 5rd mags from Villiage Tacticle for $12.99 ea. So go ahead and take your Spanish Lady hunting and enjoy the looks she'll get from the other hunters! LOL

Thumbs up

Here in Sunny Florida, we are allowed only five rounds in the rifle. Luckily, I do have a good 5-round mag. I would do it - but BE CAREFUL! The thin commercial brass can be ripped in half by the violent extraction. Make sure your shot was good and you ejected the entire casing!
I've read that the Winchester nickel-plated cases are stronger and give better performance in our Spanish Ladies.

We have a 10 round limit here in Mo. I have thought about making one of my many cheap mags into a 5 or 10 round mag for hunting. My main quary is cans and golf ball and the such. There's no limit to the number of rounds you can "hunt" with
You should be right in there when it comes time to deer hunt, the 7.62 x 51 is a great deer gitter. Good luck to ya.

Here is a thought on hunting ammo. I found some Lake City 168gr BTHP Match Grade at a local gun shop. Being hollow point it meets state regs and being match grade it should be accurate. And being mil-surp i shouldn't have any case seperations. What do ya'll think?

Sounds like quality stuff, but you can pretty much forget about it ever being reloadable brass after being banged-and-chucked out of the CETME. If that doesn't concern you, then I'd say it sounds like prime hunting ammo.

So I tried firing some soft tip bullets (hunting rounds) from winchester (winchester extreme) and the dont feed well. The lead tips seem to flatten out and get cought on the receiver causing jambs. I have never tried hollow points so I'll give those a shot. I think I am going to use my iron sights I havnt had any luck with mounting a scope on my centme but I have improved remarkably with the iron sights, well enough to hunt with I believe. I might take it jack rabbit shooting this summer and see how well I do killing them. My mother in laws ranch in texas has an infestation right now and she needs them thinned out. It should be fun lol.

try the traditional claw style mount. It took som effort to get mine on but I haven't had any trouble at all since it was installed. I use it with a green dot scope but it can mount the O.G. german scope or I can screw in a picatiny rail and mount whatever. Using this you can still use your iron sights as well. The iron sights take some getting used to but I do actually like. Have fun hunting.

To be honest I think I like shooting it better with iron sites. Since I tried to put on a scope and it failed I have been shooting it with the Irons and to be honest since it is not a surgical fire arm I dont think I need a scope. Plus I like the immediate sight aquisition. IDK 300 yards doesnt seem that hard to shoot anymore.
