| Wolf Military Classic??
What do you guys think about Wolf ammo vs Wolf military classic ammo? Just curious cause I ran into a lot of military classic and was wondering if it was any better than regular wolf. Thanks all!

Works great in the Eastern Bloc firearms, AK's. SKS's, etc.etc.etc.. I personally won't use it in anything but those, but then that's me. As for the Military Classic being better then the Wolf (green cases), I think it's better.

I don't use Wolf brand ammo as it is usually coated in a shellac/varnish to protect the steel cases from rusting. That shellac/varnish whatever will begin to melt in your chamber and good luck trying to clean it out.

One of my brothers recently bought an M4 style AR-15 and he got 100rds of Wolf with it. He's not as much of a shooter as I am, so he still hasn't finished it, but he hasn't had any issues with it at all. Shoots just fine. Of course he hasn't tried any long range grouping yet.

I'm hearing that if you use the newer Wolf ammunition that specifically says polymer coating, not lacquer coating, then it won't have the melting problem that we've all been hearing about, but because it's still a steel cased round, you may get the occasional failure to extract because the steel doesn't expand as well as brass and does not seal the chamber as completely. This allows some of the powder residue to blow back between the case and chamber and make a sticky extraction. Of course, this is all anecdotal, I refuse to buy Wolf, even though the price is very attractive right now... |

Like the above said, the polymer stuff feeds well and is still very cheap by comparison. Just stay away from the 62 grain stuff, they underpower those loads and plays hell in my chamber.

I found a lot of 1,000 rounds of military classic with the polymer coating in .223 for only $130. I also found the same deal for 7.62x39. It looks like I just spent $260!!

the military classic is wolfs old brand, they just renamed it, its lacquerd coated , the new wolf is polomer coated

how did you find that out? I talked to a buddy of mine back east that worked for a surplus store and he was reading boxes of ammo to me that said different. It could have been a sales pitch on the box. not sayin you are wrong by any means.

just check gunbroker- some guy sdont like it, but I dont have and have never had a problem with buying ammo off of it. the casing is gray with a copper bullet glockmeister

Wolf Military Classic is Lacquer coated. newer Wolf Ammo is polymere coated. Lacquer will eat your bore, throat and bolt over time if you don't do a very thorough cleaning after each shoot. Polymere will not.

I bought 1000 of the newer wolf. gunbroker.com. I know some of you dont like gunbrokerr, but they have good deals and I have never had a problem with it. the seller is a company by the name of KYIMPORTS. there is a phone number that you can call and skip the auction. thats what i did. good luck all!

Lousy ammo. Last resort ammo for me, and I would only use it for range use. There are several reasons that Wolf is a poor choice for carry/duty ammo.

that is all i bouoght it for was range ammo. we hit the range a couple times a week just to shoot for fun. i carry black talon for carry ammo.
