Sidewinder Flashlight

Just bought one for a little shy of $50. I'd HIGHLY recommend it ! Streamlight Sidewinder -- 1 white focused and 3 color LED's. Getting 2 more for the cars.

I'm not a big fan of LED flashlights. I know the bulbs last a long time. But I just don't like the light they emit. Messes with my eyes big time for some reason. It actually hurts them and I don't have to be looking directly at it either.

What did the sidewinder cost you. I did look at them but the LED kind of turned me off. Did you get the Tactical model I take it?

I'm a XENON man. lol Love that bright crisp white blinding light. However, even though this one is LED, if it weren't so expensive, I'd buy one of these in the 120 lumen model, again, even though it's LED.
First Light USA

What I did get myself was the Streamlight Stinger XT #75310.
Stinger XT with AC Fast Piggyback Charger - 75310 from Streamlight-Flashlights.com
Best dog gone flashlight I've found yet. Had to get one to replace my XENON that uses Lithium CR123 batteries. They may have a shelf life of 10 years, but you use them under normal use, they go in about a month or 2, and they are so damn expensive. Sure you can buy bulk, but even that gets expensive after a while. Anyhow, it came with 2 rechargeable batteries and the one stays in the charger until needed, can't be over charged, goes into a trickle mode. Anyhow, the first charged battery lasted me 3 months under normal every day/ well night use... I can also get the upgrade kit
Stinger Upgrade HP Kit - 78004 from Streamlight-Flashlights.com and make it even brighter then it already is, from 15,000 candlepower (about 125 Lumens) to 40,000 candlepower (about 325 Lumens). But trust me, 15,000 (about 125 Lumens)is plenty.

Got it from these guys for 50 bucks + shipping.

Streamlight Sidewinder Tactical Flashlight with articulating head

I don't know if it's true, but it looks like a 21st century replacement for the old army 2D cell with the light filters. The adjustable brightness is great -- I needed something dimmable to fly with, which was bright enough for a preflight. Fits the bill nicely for both. Bright enough for me for most uses -- Glad you like yours !!! And I like the blinding xenon as well, just not all the time lol ......Seems like a real quality product. But like you said, it IS LED, and if you don't like that or the light messes with your eyes, it's not for you.

The good thing is that they use AA batteries. What I've done is use the NI-MH rechargables with the energizer quick charger for normal use. I have 2 spare lithiums in the cars and on the road for backup, but rechargables last under full bright for about 10 hours. Much longer lower. 4 step light from dim to bright.

Cheers, and good luck !

Yea, that's the link I found. They've had it that price for a long time. I was looking at it over 2 months ago. lol One of those they say "SALE" but it's actually the regular price. Like a place near me always advertised a going out of business or an inventory reduction sale.

Like I said, I liked it, just turned off by the LED. Now if they make one with a XENON bulb, yea buddy. Good thing is those take the AA Lithium batteries and you can find those in rechargeable and save some bucks. Well after you get the charger that is.

My wife makes fun of me because I'm always a sucker for new flashlights or new pistols. Promised her I'd bought my last pistol until one breaks (that was before I got my new Stainless Sig Carry Elite P220 which is a fantastic gun). Unfortunately, I left the rebate check from Sig sitting on the desk (which she promptly found). "What's this ??!!" Oh well, she gets the rebate, I get the gun .

lol. Yea, I've got a flashlight and gun fetish/ love triangle thing going on also. lol You are not alone TX. Not at all. I think I've got 5 or 6 XENON flashlights that take the CR123 Lithium batteries, and a 5 D-Cell MagLite that can also be shortened and take 2 or 3 D-Cells. Then there's my new Streamlight Stinger XT. I always get asked don't you have enough flashlights and guns. I always answer the same. I can never have too many or enough. Then I ad, kind of like you and purses and you and clothes isn't it. Usually ends there for a while. Until I buy the next one.

As for the rebate thing, my luck is that they don't offer the rabate or free gift or whatever generally until AFTER I've bought mine. lol
