Man, that is an absolutely gorgeous stock... even matches the game he took!

I hunt whitetails (4 legged type) with my M44, 91/30 and my Enfield No.4
Using the right kind of ammo, I would hunt anything in North America, including Elk and even Grizzly. They will do the job as long as you do your part! I have heard others talk about having a quick follow-up so they like semi-autos. BULL! If you do your part right, you don't need a follow-up. If you go with that idea then you probably shouldn't have taken the shot.

I'm no expert on M39's but my Valmet has a straight bolt and swivel sling mounts versus the stock slots.

Anyway, very nice, and I have no doubt that the M39 could easily do the job. I'll have mine in photogenic and firing condition this weekend...

Damn! Now I want another M39, but I've got that Tula M44 comming, and an ammo run on Saturday... I need mo money!!!

Uh.. three whitetail deer this year with Mosin M44.

Got a Leupold EER 2x and an eBay mount. Still haven't put it on.

Dunno, rifle will go from a take-it-anywhere, do-anything-to-it gun, to a watch-out-for-the-expensive optics, is-there-rain/mist/fog-on-the-lens gun.

Even with the new eye glasses, I don't have the vision for shots over 200 yards. The sight just obscures the target. I'm very hesitant for shots over 125 yards or so.

Dunno.

He hit an antilope at almost 500 yards with open tangent sights?! That is one hell of a shot!! Just goes to show you what open sights can do in the hands of someone who knows how to use them! And has good eyes.

That puppy is on my GOTTA HAVE list. Along wth a M38 and a M91/59. She'll be the last Mosin I buy, and I can die happy.

Truely seems to be a guy you would want to know... and represents what's quickly dying in this country. I used to love to hunt, fish, and live for moderate periods of time in the wilderness (mainly the Ventana and Eastern Sierras). I had survival skills.

But over time I got city-fied and almost politically correct, and by the time I woke up it was 30 years later, and here I be... gettin back in the saddle.

It's a pretty good bet that he will never go hungry.
