SKS threaded barrel

I've been thinking a lot lately about how nice it would be if my SKS had a threaded barrel. That being said, have any of y'all ever done that? I'm not sure how much it would cost or really anything actually. I just know it would be great to be able to buy muzzle attachments that will stay on! I would be having it threaded to whatever the AK-47 is and probably installing a slant attachment. Your thoughts?

Instead of threading it, get one of these. Easy to install and won't ever come loose. I have abot 600 rounds with mine on and still tight as a drum.

I had forgotten about that...ok now I have some questions about it. (1)Which length did you get, (2)how much does it help muzzle rise, (3) does it help with stringers when the barrel warms up, (4) does it help with recoil, and (5) how much does it increase accuracy?

65mm looks best. I used a ruler to look at how the lengths would look.
No more muzzle rise on my Norinco.
I'd say it reduces stringers by about 60-75%
I can't say about recoil. Never really noticed!
It really tightened up my groups! This was the most noticeable change.

I saw an ad for 20 round sKS magazines awhile ago that seem to be fixed-type, not the adaptors for AK mags. Will one of the 20-round fixed mags fit a Yugo SKS?

how much was it going for?
ps i dont know if they work in yugos, but i bet they will.

Swede, buy yourself that dang Yugo! I have one and they are great accurate rifles. I found mine to be almost as accurate as my russians. Well, I should say Russian. I haven't shot my Laminated stock Russian yet.

I think I might just got with that shock wave break. If I don't like it I can always thread it later. Thanks Swede! Looks like that's top of my list for the SKS. Then a side-rail scope mount with a picatinny on top with a red dot....I would love to have one.

"Muzzle rise" on an SKS ..... ? Surely y'all jest...

Any muzzle rise with 7.62X39 can only occur during full auto fire - not a factor with our SKS rifles.

Glad you said that Big Dog! I shot a few rounds through my sks and never noticed any muzzle rise. Just dirt and smoke!

Norincos rise. Its nothing compared to a high powered rifle, but it does. If you have Yugos, I can see where you're coming from. They have a lot more weight on the end and have a muzzle break to start with. The norinco does have a break and I removed the bayonet so I have even less weight on the end. It does rise. At 50 yards, after a shot it will be a good 4-8 feet off before you pull it back on target.
