Steve,
One of my Buddies took a 60 inch Moose with the 7.62 X54R, but it was in My Tiger Rifle...Not a Mosin, but same cartridge at 260 yards..

I use a chopped up 91/30 with a 18bbl every year for hogs in GA. That way I can cook them with the muzzle blast when I shoot them.
