Finally New AR with pics and questions.

So finally got my first AR today. A Bushmaster law enforcement series flat top with removable carry handle. 14.5" barrel and a factory installed flash suppressor, and a 3 position stock. Let me know what you think.

Questions, on my mags I got with the rifle they say for military and law enforcement use only, is that significant?

Where's the cheapest place to get mags right now?

How is the combat sling supposed to be adjusted?

(the holy trinity)

also what would be a good rear sight to add? I'm thinking flip up.

Nice Bushy, I started with a similar model. Midway had these
on sale for 9.99 awhile back. I assume you are in CA, no lug or FS. Here's mine after a few changes.

No, actually I'm not in Cali. I have a FS, and a mag release, you're right about the lug though.

Nice rifle. Welcome to The Black Rifle club.

The Law Enforcement marked mags won't be a problem unless your state laws don't allow you to have high capacity magazines.

A really good rear BUIS sight would be a Troy flip-up battle sight. More expensive than most, but its the best.

Bravo Company USA is a great place to buy all your AR15 stuff (including that Troy BUIS).

These are good mags at a good price.

AR15 Magazines

While you're at it buy a few Magpul PMags. They are worth the extra money. They are all I am going to buy from now on.

FYI...The Mags marked "For Military and LE Use Only" were Manufactured during the Clinton assault weapon ban when Hi-cap Mags were Made illegal to manufacture and sell. Since that Ban sunsetted, they are now OK for anyone to own...There are rifles marked the same way !!!

As long as the capacity is legal where you reside, you can use the "For Military and Law Enforcement Use Only" marked magazines.

This is a stamp put on magazines that were manufactured for military and law enforcement use and were stamped with that during the Clinton years. It also keeps people who are not as smart as you (those who don't ask questions and just are stupid) from using them in fear of persecution.

Don't go cheap on the mags. You can find some for $9.00 online, but they have the old followers, which can fail to feed a lot. It isn't the magazine, it is the follower that is bad. You can buy a new follower, but for that price, you can buy a magazine that alread has the anti-tilt follower. Usually the green follower on standard mags. If you get poly-mags, they usually come with them already.

Check this site out, they have a lot of cool AR15 accessories, I've bought a lot of stuff from them:

I'd buy PMAGS. They are excellent.

You really think these 9.99 mags are junk?

"AR-Stoner Magazine AR-15 223 Remington 30-Round with Magpul Follower, Aluminum Matte.

These curved body, anodized aluminum magazines feature chrome-silicon springs and anti-tilt, self leveling followers for enhanced reliability. Heat treated for durability and dry-lube coated for easy magazine changes. Made in the USA."

I should have bought more when they had the sale price, even at 17.99 they are still a good buy.
