I was lucky enough to win a Winchester Super Shadow 7MM WSM at this years Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation banquet and was wondering if this would be a good rifle for my wife. She has never hunted before and I dont want a gun to kick her to the point that she is turned away from shooting it. We will be hunting pronghorns, Mule Deer, Elk, and maybey Moose. Any help would be greatly apprieciated thank you gtrmef Also I have never been around any of the WSM rifles, I am still using my old 7MM REM MAG and love it. | Senior Member | it depends how well the rifle fits her, if the recoil will be uncomfortable or not. winchester does put a good recoil pad on the magnum rifles, so that will help. if you have her try it, remember ear plugs and muffs. the short mags do bark! |

Perhaps your wife might be better off with a 7mm/08 on pronghorn. The big problem comes from recoil making shooting a negative event for someone who might start at an acceptable level of recoil then move up in power. |

| Senior Member | As leftyO said, if it will fit her? Make sure to check the length of pull. If it's too long for her, and even if she can handle it, she may not do very well with it due to it just doesn't fit her properly... Glad to here you won it. Was it a raffle or something? If so, how much each ticket cost and how many you buy? Or was it just a give away and they just tossed the name of everyone who was to attend the banquet? Anyhow, LUCKY YOU!!!!
