| Senior Member | so i was bored today and looked up my stamps on my mosin. i learned the one i am currently building is a 1940 (izthk) or something thats spelled like that. though i dont know how to pronounce it. i know it was one of the major soviet union factorys. i knew how to look up mosins from browsing on 7.62x54r.net but just thought to find mine out of curiousity. it has nothing to do with my build just thought it would be cool to find out.

And one comment, titanium FP're are really a waste of $. Believe me, I have a whole drawer full of BOPOS rooney parts, and this qualifies. You want something steel and with a lot of inertia whacking that rim. I tried to buy one some years ago from the mfr of my AR rifle for that rifle, he sells them, but he told me privately to save my $ and after a lot of later research I see no reason to doubt him. A stronger FP spring will have better effect if lock time is a concern, otherwise I think the difference could only be measured in milliseconds. The match trigger and springs look like great mods. (Wait a sec!, does the 91 have a striker spring and the M44 not? I only see a FP spring on my M44.) Tnx. Norm Last edited by Svashtar; 04-05-2008 at 09:15 AM. | |

| Senior Member ![]() | You don't need to bend the bolt if you go with a scout scope setup. If you buy a Huber trigger, buy directly from them. Huber Concepts You'll save on the shipping. And they'll give you $10 for your old trigger if you are so inclined. Slugging your barrel should be the first thing you do. This really works well and is very easy to do: Mosin Nagant Rifle Bore Slugging Tutorial I tell people, knowing your bore is the only way to get the best accuuracy out of the rifle.

| Member | Thanks! Somewhere I've misplaced a spring! I just saw the big FP spring in there. Changing them out is a good idea after this many decades. And I appreciate the info on the trigger (something I'm sure to do) and on slugging the barrel. (Don't know that I would be able to get milsurp ammo to those exact specs though...) Despite the high-comb of the ATI stock, offhand my inclination is not to scope it. I think it might the perfect iron-sight knock around rifle. Norm Last edited by Svashtar; 04-07-2008 at 05:08 PM. |

| Senior Member ![]() | In my opinion Svash, you are spot on with your build. This is just IMHO which I now understand means in my honest opinion! Tex, Marion, AH, billy, Moose, BigDog, and Sam all understand that text message BS. They are 'puter smart! Me I use 2 fingers! Just like the good 'ol days on a typewriter! MASBM! to those bandy Roosters!

| Senior Member | If I wanted to build a extreme Mosin-Nagant, and I have to admit that it sounds fun, I'd go the extra step and get a Douglas straight taper or Shilen bull barrel blank from Brownells in 7mm and chamber it for a 7.62 case with a 7mBR neck and shoulder. Just food for thought (and wishing I had the money to do it myself). |

| Senior Member ![]() | Svash- If you have the FP spring, what spring are you missing?????? There IS a wide range of bullet diameters in milsurp ammo. Marion-I passed "fuddy" years old a long time ago. I have been "duddy" minded for quite some time. 26 year old socks, and never been washed! LOL JAC- Don't you never mind them! It took me 52 years to find this place, and you did it in half the time!

| Senior Bear Fluffer ![]() | You did not know how old he was, Marion. You were too busy trying to find where you put that pair of 18 year old socks. ![]()
