| Member | I cant find the right information I need. I understand my Washington state carry permit will work in all states I'm crossing beside when I get to Ill. Illinois does not have concealed carry. I understand what concealed carry when I'm not in a car is.. but when I'm traveling, say I want to put it under my seat. is this also considered concealed? Whenever I travel onto federal property, I put it in my trunk in condition 4 (slide locked, no magazine). Ammo and gun in different compartments of the car. < is this considered not concealed? what else is considered not concealed in the car. I can find information on permit easily. but laws of carrying and how to carry. if any information I think I know is wrong. or you can help steer me towards the right site. or just tell me what I need it would be a great help. |

| Member | Little clue I picked up on a couple years ago after a good friend that has a Texas CHL. Got stopped in Georgia which supposedly honors the Texas license holder. He ran into an "uneducated" Georgia HP that confiscated his pistol and had my friend follow him to the station house. After some 4-5 hours he got his gun back and was on his way.... Lost 4-5 hours !!! I now write to a letter to the Head of the Highway Patrol and Attorney General of each state I'm going to be traveling thru requesting a letter from their respective offices, on their letter heads, their laws pertaining to Texas CHL holders. Not saying I'm not going to run into a HPD/DPS officer that can't read but might help. o~\o |

| Lost in the Ozone Again ![]() | If you have a FL permit, their CHL website lists all states with reciprocity and is always current -- you can print out a copy of this and take it with you. Your state might have something similar.

| One Buwwit Weft ![]() | When you get to IL, make sure it's unloaded and in a closed firearms case. In IL, we not only don't have concealed carry, it's a felony to do so.. I'm hoping this will change someday, but I surely wouldn't want a legal gun owner to get in trouble and lose his/her right to even own firearms..
