It's not a Smith and Wesson M&P .40 ;-) I recently read a review on .40's in that class of handgun. XD was the bottom of the barrel, but keep in mind that it was still reviewed as excellent. (Similar to all parties involved getting an A but there are various degrees of A. Make sense?) Search this site for the link to the review of the .40's. It was relatively recent. Found the link: http://www.gunandgame.com/forums/smi...r-pistols.html (M&P Beats Other Polymer Pistols) Last edited by lorcin25; 04-08-2008 at 05:00 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

I'm real happy with an XD9 9mm and a Kahr T40 .40S&W... it's all about how it feels in my hand and how well I can shoot it. Do you have a local range with rental .40S&Ws you can try?

I found a good price on a new .40 XD. I pretty much have my eye on that one because it has stopping power, is less expensive than a .45 to shoot, and I laready have a .40 so why buy two different kinds of ammo if you dont have to. I live in the boonies of the plains. no one rents guns around here. If you have a gun, you are almost expected to join the Militia when Hillary gets into office. I would join. LOL! Thanks all. Big help.

Have a XD 9mm, and it's great. Also have a Beretta .40 and it is my favorite. Both are very accurate. I do live by a gun shop that rents gun. So if you send the rental fee and money for the cost of ammo I will try a XD .40 and let you know how it does. lol!! Just kidding.

I just recently bought one XD40 I like it. It feels good in my hand. It's best to go to a gun shop and hold them and feel how they fit in your hand .I also liked the feel of the M&P S&W it was a toss up between the 2. I like the grip safety on the xd.

The XD is an excellent handgun. Don't worry about what the gun rags say or don't say-go to a range and rent one, you won't be dissapointed in any way.

I got a chance to shoot two xd's both .40 S&Ws, but one with a shorter barrel than the other. Both shot GREAT and both shot where you aimed (pretty much). I don't think you'll have a problem with these pistols.

The Springfield XD is an awesome handgun. If it feels good in your hand, you can't go wrong. I would also recommend trying out a S&W M&P before making a purchase, as just holding the M&P made me buy it over the XD. |

I got tired of my Glock 22 not fitting my hand and affecting accuracy, so I traded it in on an XD40. All I can say is that they are night and day different. The XD is comfortable, ready to shoot when you need it and dead-on accurate out of the box. The accessories were an nice extra as well. Wish I had not waited so long to get one. Dave |
