Hunting

Do any of you girls go hunting? I've wanted to go since I was little, but my dad was never really into it, and brother was too old to want to be hanging around me!
So now my fiance went for his first time two years ago....but I feel guilty for wanting to go along. He goes with his brother and friend....I don't want to impose on "boy time".

However, I was invited the first year (to the friend's land) but two weeks before, I was told that the friend wasn't comfortable with a woman being there. So I backed out. I was pretty pissed.

So that's the only hunting story I have.

That's THEIR problem, not yours. Shame on your fiance' for not insisting you go with them. Most men would be tickled pink to have their lady join them in the field on a hunt. My daughter goes along with me... and has been since she was 8, on pheasant hunts. She's well in her 20's, and still starts getting fired up for them 4 months before the season opens.

Hunt. Enjoy being out in nature. Appreciate being alive in the woods with your loved one. And if he can't man-up to that, perhaps he shouldn't be your loved one.

He did insist on me going, and he really wants me to, I just bowed out cause I was afraid I might have said something I'd regret to the friend who was uncomfortable.

No, MrsShooter, I don't hunt...I have a compound bow that I use for target shooting, and of course a shotgun and handgun for home/personal defense. I am not against hunting but it does not interest me personally....now fishing is a different story!

A compound bow--- for target shooting?? Lady, I have nothing against target shooting. In fact I"ve won a few prizes doing just that with a RECURVE I think compounds are--- hmmmm, well let's just say an anachronism and take away from the "purity" of the sport. This is just my opinion of course. You have every right to use whatever "bow" you choose. I just think that useing a compound to target shoot is like useing a tommy gun at a Civil War re-enactment.

Yep, Cyrille..I use a compound bow to shoot at the lovely square target you can buy at Targets, etc. I do it privately on my property. I, personally, find it a great way to relieve stress. When I am shooting my bow I have to focus on aiming and shooting, which takes patience so it re-directs my mind to the task at hand. My husband hunts with a compund bow and he initially got me into it with that intent....I just never could get into hunting. Sorry to sound like a disgrace to those that hunt with bows, but I will have to admit-the compound bow my husband bought for a good amount of money is being used as a form of archery to me.

You know my wife tried to hunt with me. She was more interested in doing something together, I think, than she was in the actual hunting. She had some exciting moments, but never shot anything. She just couldn't take the cold and gave it up once my son got old enough to go. Still I remember some of the trips we made together as some of my best.

She does shoot with me some, but thanks for the idea anyway. She has a Smith&Wesson .22 pistol. She just isn't into it as much as me and when I go to the range I pack a lunch. I will admit I waste a lot of time talking over the problems with the world with a few old crownies. She just isn't in to that. And she doesn't go in the winter time. We do make it out there a few times a year though.

Go Hunting! My ex and 3 daughters used to do it every year for vacation. A lot of wonderful memories. Girls are grown now but they still hunt even when their "others" arn't able to go with them. I sure do miss those times with them.

Walkabouts, blinds, hanging in trees and sometimes freezing your behind off.
Women are smarter than men; so we would have the good sense to accommodate you back to a warm truck

Pity your not in australia.I would love to have you along for a hunting trip.My wife loves hunting also.Women shooters make safe hunters.They listen to instructions better than most blokes.

I got my wife to go once. She didn't like to cold and the no make-up and perfume thing was difficult to enforce.

My friend has two daughters, maybe 16 and 19. Drop-dead beautiful girls. Both have been hunting with dad since they were old enough to climb into the tree stand. I pity the young man that pi$$es one of them off. Might find himself field dressed and on the hood of his own car.

Mrs.S, I'm glad you enjoy your archery.
Mrs. Shooter, go hunting with your finance. You will both enjoy it and before the hunt is over his friend will probably be glad you are there. Since you have already thought about the possibility of being teased or baited I doubt that you would say something that would cause hurt feelings. Just relax and enjoy the hunt.

Go, Go , Go hunting. You and yours don't need his buddies along to enjoy hunting. I have taken my hunting several times. She has killed a moose and a caribou and some small game. Even if you go along with the boys and suffer some ribbing along the way, the best thing to do is give it right back ! Likely those guys would be doing it out of envy for your fiance anyhow .

I go hunting. I love to hunt for deer, ducks, geese, rabbits and grouse. My grandfather started me hunting at age 14. I later went into the Navy and on with my adult life and did not hunt much. My husbands family don't hunt and my husband prefers bow hunting. I love to hunt with my Mark V Weatherby with family friends. There are a couple of the wifes in that hunting party.
